maybe i'm way over my head here. i downloaded a piece of material off of bit torrent. it took about 2 days to download, but it eventually ended up with a file . the end of the file read .xvid. i believe the file was about 1.2 MB in size. it ended up in 2 cd's that were compressed. i used extract now and put them in cucusoft's avi to mpeg converter program. and yes i paid for it. might i say that when it was in avi format it played perfectly on my windows media player. i then downloaded k-lites codec package. i believe it took aqbout 5 hours in cucusoft's program to convert it to the mpeg format. you won't believe this, but for the last 5 nights i have stayed up until 2 or 3 in the morning trying to figure this out. i have read. when the file is done in cucu, it asks me if i want to play output file. i say yes and it plays good. i then put this mpeg file into cucusoft's mpeg to dvd program, and yes i bought this too. i end up with a dvd+r that says it was burned successfully. i figure i have this whole procedure knocked until i put it in my rom reader where it plays intermittently. i then put it in my mitsubishi dd-8940 where i get an error code that says disc may not have playback feature. should i slit my wrists now? or am i just wasting my time because the finished product(if i ever get 1) will look terrible on my 65 inch tv. i just started this as a lark because i just like to learn how things work. any help would be greatly appreciated.:angry:
