Hi!

For cce 2.70 the quality_prec gets scaled to 156% compared to the 2.6x series - so 24.96 equals the old default 16.

I always thought that this parameter is an integer, not a floating point value? If it is, it would get truncated to 24. I hope I'm wrong here, but I thought I better ask.

However, it would be great, if you could change the options->cce->advanced settings dialog slightly, so that it displays the currently used settings.

At the moment it shows still 16 whereas those 24.96 are set in the ecl, and there's no way to check wether the rebuilder remembers cce's version correctly. And there's no hint that the shown values apply to the 2.6x series only, so it's a bit confusing, at least for me.

Thanks for taking the time!

Cheers and have a nice evening, NaN

I think jdobbs wanted this to be as seamless as possible. Meaning that the average joe schmoe wouldnt have to do anything at all and this would be taken care of for him. Which is why he doesnt have two different scales saying this one is for 2.67 and this one is for 2.70. That is more confusing. If you really feel the need to reassure yourself that cce is getting fed the correct qual prec. Just do a prepare using 16 in dvd rb. Then open up the rebuilder.inf file from the working directory with rb opt. and hightlight a vobid and choose cce settings. under quality prec slider you should see that it equals the adjusted qual prec (about 24). Why would you want the currently used settings to display. So your always thinking ok... im using this version so the qual prec should be this not this... blah blah blah. The way jdobbs does it is you just have to remember the 0-64 scale. So if 16 was the setting you chose with 2.67, you choose that same 16 with 2.70 and behind the scene rebuilder will adjust it. What is so confusing?

EDIT: I guess you might be confused by the fact that dvd rb shows 16 in the settings box... Well when you hit prepare all the adjusted settings for each segment of video are stored in the rebuilder.inf. So rest assured. The correct settings ARE getting passed on to CCE. No worries.

Well, if everybody is happy with it, I shall be too.

Unfortunatly jdobbs doesn't comment on it (integer vs. floating point).

jdobbs has commented on it.

Read this in the rebuilder.txt and posted here on Doom9 under changes to v0.74:

- Fixed a minor error in which some qual_prec= settings in ECL files
were being set to floating point values. Just a cleanup - no real
effect.

No big deal. The floating point value gets truncated and set properly by CCE. It's easy to see, just load the ECL in CCE and you can view the determined qual_prec value.

Man, this is a tough crowd.

Sorry, I have indeed forgotten to check the VIP-release postings.

I have the feeling that it would be better if I just shut up, since everything I possibly could report is quite outdated.
