I am a newbie and have a question.
Does a DVD burner place signature data on a burnt DVD as to which computer or DVD burner created it.

Your burning software (like NERO) can do that.
As to your burner does it, I really doubt. *If* it does, it would at max include info like which burner were used and/or which burning software, but not which computer. And again, I doubt that DVD burner would do that.
Interesting subject tho'... Prolly someone have more expirience in this. I would fire up my hexeditor and look up on DVD burned by me if there are any signatures, but I'm too lazy now :p :D
PS: There's something called "DVD Identifier" that can read some predefined data from DVDs. As seen from screenshot (http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/my_site/screenshots.htm) it doesn't display any info on which burner programm were used or on which computer DVD was burned. Otherwise it would be there I guess...
