Anyone know why???

I have been using Nero 6 for ages with no burning issues at all, but now that I have upgraded Nero 6, and try to back-up and already backed up DVD's, Nero shows that read and write is complete but the movie freezes anywhere in between 3 minutes and 10 minutes into the movie. I have tried seceral types of media from Fuji, BenQ, Datawrite and they all have the same outcome. I have upgraded my Writer to a Pioneer 109, re-installed Nero 6 and downloaded all the latest patches, unistalled my DVD playing software (PowerDVD) which has never caused a problem before. Completly scanned my drive for errors or viruses but nothing shows as an error.

ALTHOUGH- If i use DVD Shrink on an origional unripped movie, and then burn it to disc, it plays OK. BUT to try and back-up another copy of that same movie from the copy using Nero Disc to Disc, it will not play in any DVD player.

Please help, it's driving me mad....

I had similar problems with Nero. I switched to burning with DVD Decrypter and have not had a problem. Just have Shrink create an ISO file and then use Decrypter in ISO Write mode. If you are backing up a DVD 5, you can use Decrypter in ISO Read mode to create an image and then burn with Decrypter.

I have not had one coaster since I started using Decrypter.

Welcome to the club, finchies.

You may want to eliminate these three possiblities:

1. Lower the burn speed. Your 109D(target) may be mucho faster than the other dvdrom reader/writer. Both are keeping up together.

2. You souce disk may have larger size than the target disk can absorb. Lets say you have 4470mb in your perfectly good source disk and your target disk which maybe shyte and won't burn beyond 4450mb. See the potential problem?

3. As always, try not to load too many irrelevant proggies and see if that helps.
