Hiding dummy streams

Quick question:
After compressing a dvd with dvdrebuilder, where i’ve disabled some subtitle and audio streams, they are still present as dummy files. Is it possible to hide those dummy files so you can’t select them anymore?

The job is simple to perform through:

IfoEdit --> VOB Extras --> Strip Streams

Only when i strip down the streams like this, the order will change.
So i guess when using a dvd menu, i need to change the button commands as well?

Of course you're right... ;)

But you have to make a choice, IMHO: DVD-RB removes the audio and subpicture streams in the way it does, just for being safe, as much as possible, keeping the title working without the risk of mixing things up. The side effect is that the "ghosts" of these streams are still present in the DVD. If you want to totally remove the stripped streams you should use IfoEdit, checking (and eventually modifying) the behaviour of Menus, BOV, and in general all the commands in your title leading with the stream handling...

Sorry if I didn't catch initially the meaning of your post; if someone knows better (stronger, or less manual) methods for doing the job, please come in...

You can still use this with IfoEdit. Just put back your wanted existing streams back to where they originally was and zero the rest.

No problem. If you want your audio to be inaudible when you clicked on your button of your removed audio, just put all your stream values back to it's original state.

Doing it the way in my guide proposed, if you click on a removed audio button, you'll get the first existing audio playing. I believe I explained this matter in the guide.

What I usually do to clean up the menu is use MenuEdit to hide the "removed audio" buttons so that no one access it. ;)

Be careful with the non-consecutive method.
Not all settops work fine selecting cyclically from the remote if there are "holes" between the streams. AFAIK, selecting from menu always works

With what you said then it would affect alot of DVD Shrink users who uncheck their "Logical Mapping of Enabled Streams Remapping" option as that what it does. It zeros out removed audios/subpictures. I haven't heard too many people having problems but it's nice to have your statistics to explain on a possible hardware problem. ;)

I had a DVD the other day which had the English subpix as stream 1 and Greek as stream 0 (blanked).

Pressing subtitle on the remote worked fine on 1 player but got "stuck" on another.

Easy solution: Use PgcEdit's PGC editor to replace the streams ahead of the one you keep (they will, of course, display no subpix). Anything after, you can safely ignore. This is like an interface for 2COOL's non-consecutive method.

Now supposing the streams you kept were #1 and you're still faced with this list of languages. Then 2COOL's consecutive method comes into play. VIDEO_TS.IFO --> VMG_VTS_ATRT bytes 0x117 for audio and 0x169 for subpic number of streams. VTS_0X_0.IFO --> VTSI_MAT bytes 0x0203 for number of audio streams and 0x0255 for subpix.
