as title.

some observations:

1. When the output vobs (VTS_02 for this DVD) are viewed using DVD2AVI, the size is 4:3 when previewed

2. When the original VTS_02_0.ifo is opened in IFOEDIT, the video is 4:3. When the new VTS_02_0.ifo is opened, the video is 16:9.

3. When DVD is played in a standalone player and using WinDVD, the main video (i.e. VTS_02) is displayed as 16:9. :|

Any ideas?

Thanks for the replies.

When played with a DVD player the IFO determines the aspect ratio. If the IFO says 16:9, it will be played at 16:9 -- no matter what the stream says.

You can change the aspect ratio in the IFO with IFOEDIT. Do a quick search of Doom9 for IFOEDIT and aspect ration and the instructions should show up. That was an old trick used for SpruceUp (because it didn't support 16:9).
