View Full Version : Trouble playing back DVDs and Divx with AC3

I've been doing this awhile and I've never had this problem...but something is going on where my center volume isn't coming out hardly at all. I can barely hear voices and "middle" kinda stuff..main action stuff. The background stuff and music and all that kinda stuff is crystal clear and loud.

I've got AC3 Filter installed and I've had it set to Prefer AC3 Filter. I've also tried setting Prefer Other Decoder to see if ffdshow could take over (not even sure if that's what ffdshow does...???) Anyway, that didn't work either..same result.

I've got an ATI AIW card and the DVD decoder from ATI is installed. It's all the same setup I've had for awhile now but somewhere I've screwed something up and I'm lost on how to fix it.

It happens with actual DVDs and also the Divx I create with surround AC3. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

seems to work when I actually play the DVD with ATI DVD player. If I play it with Media Player 10 or Zoom player pro the center stuff doesn't come out.

Ok well...I removed and reinstalled AC3Filter and now it seems to be ok again.

What would have made that happen though? And howcome ensuring that Prefer AC3Filter was selected wasn't fixing it?
