Since the latest GKnot supports x264 output I figure it must be possible, yet I can't seem to find a way to make VDub or any other VfW based muxing tool to open x264 content in the AVI container. I know that the VfW x264 interface only has an encoder, but shouldn't ffdshow be able to handle decoding via VfW? Or else, how does GKnot mux audio and video together to get the final product into an AVI container?

H.264 decoding via vfw interface is disabled by default, you have to enable it here:

He-he, Lenox the magician :D It is definitely possible to directstream copy the video along with the audio, I guess. BTW ffdshow is able to serve as a decoder in VFW for x264

H.264 decoding via vfw interface is disabled by default, you have to enable it here:that's it, thanks. I only checked the DShow configuration.. since it looks exactly the same as the decoder config in the ffdshow codec I figured the settings were the same.
