Another AVC Licensing Fee thread (useful info)

What if I'm a small user (few units and/or little revenue)?
The program includes a Threshold Royalty Free Program for entities that distribute (sell or give away) up to 50,000 end user products, and generate less than $500,000 in revenue from distribution of those products combined with distribution of content subject to Replication Fees. There is no initial fee for this license and there are greatly reduced reporting requirements (only an annual statement confirming compliance with the limits).

i KNOW the company is generating $0 in revenue from distribution of the product (web streamable videos of past for-client work). and i doubt there'd more than 100 views per month of the video, which would work out to 41 years before we'd hit 50,000 "end-user products" if a viewing would be counted as such. hopefully it's similar for ASP, as well. too lazy to look it up at the moment.

dammit, quicktime with AVC can't come soon enough :( *shakes fist*

ASP: free streaming (for free streams) thru 2008.
Good news! have not yet had a chance to see what the other licensing arm offers

I think you have to deal with both.
I wonder if there any additional AAC licensing, or if this included in the above.

The license for mpeg-4 video and mpeg-4 audio are separate, but will fall under the same no more then "50,000 implementations or $500,000 in revenue" category. http://www.streamcrest.com/License%20Calculator3.html has a nifty little tool to estimate the mpeg-4 licensing costs.
