Hi,
I’ve transcoded the “3 Days of the Condor”. (Decrypter 3.5.2.0 , main movie with Shrink 3.2.0.15 and DVD-RB 0.69-CCE). The movie was OK when I’ve tested it to my pc dvd drives (Sony and LG) and to a standalone Pioneer.
However, when I’ve tried to watch it to another standalone LG there were freezes, skippings and stops. Lots of them.
The only way to reproduce the error back home is to play it Fast Forward (32X) to PowerDVD 6 (Show Information ON, Bitrate drops from 20Mbps to 0, timer freezes and after a while skips some minutes and so on, image the same). Having not erased the original and the transcoded, found out that the errors started from the RB remuxed.
Trying to repair it with Ifoedit (new Ifos or Vob extras Correct Vob units Navigation Packs) no good.
The only way I found out is to use DVD-RB’s new 0.70 feature "No Compression (100% Video)" (It is also a way in which previously created discs can be demuxed and remuxed to fix possible errors)
Of all the DVDs I’ve transcoded, I’ve seen only 10% using standalone LG. Of this 10% only a few (been told or seen myself) had navigational errors. So even the rest 90% might not be error free (navigation wise).
It seems that some DVD players are more strict to the book (LG) or some others have implemented a more flexible way to handle navigational errors (Pioneer).
The point is that a DVD that seems OK home, might be unplayable elsewhere.
Since the .m2v files are binary identical (files from the first Prepare-Encode-Rebuild try compared to files from the "No Compression (100% Video)" of the previous resulted movie) DVD-RB apparently is using 2 slightly different procedures to remux. So the error must lie somewhere in the differences of the code. (I’ve tried the new 0.70 and 0.72 to transcode again, but the results are the same)
Is there a way to locate navigational errors (apart from seeing every movie at 32X or using an extra step "No Compression (100% Video)" just to be sure)???
Or, even better, can DVD-RB handle these (few) movies better ?
I’ve read about some new features in 0.73 and now 0.74 (as long as I wait for this 5 days new member post rule, versions are changing fast). Do they cover my case?
If any more info is needed, please let me know.
And by the way, that would be nicer for me, if the menuitem “Shutdown computer” when in “1 click mode” might be selectable during process. Some times I change my mind. A nice approach might be the Nero’s checkbox in burn form.
Thanks
