burn verification

Hi, can anyone advise on a way to check that the DVD burn is 100% reproduction and does not have any pixelation or jumping on the reproduced dvd without having to sit and play the whole dvd from start to finish? or is it just down to the burner/software/media type/or burning speed compatability.
Please forgive me if this question seems a little silly, as i am fairly new to backing up dvd's.

Many burning apps (nero and dvddecrypter come to my mind) have a "verify" option you can tick ...
Now, the drive in your standalone might not be as good at reading a dvd than your PC drive, therefore you might still experience playback problems even if the disc verifies OK on your computer.
