Too long GOP

Getting the error message: Too long GOP in TMPGEnc DVD Author when trying to burn a MPEG-2 file encoded with TMPGEnc.
The source file was 23,97 fps, and I converted it to a 23,97 (internally 29,97 fps) NTSC file.
What does that message mean, what is GOP and how to fix it?

EDIT: How come the colors getting very bright when converting from XviD to MPEG-2?

settings -> GOP structure -> MAX number...

15 for PAL
18 for NTSC(FILM)

I'm getting this same error trying to convert a PAL DVD (Nick Frost's Danger 50,000 Volts) to NTSC.

In my SETTINGS tab, GOP STRUCTURE tab, Maximum number of frames is set to 18, which is the legal amount for an NTSC DVD.

I'm encoding at 25 frames per second with the intention of using DG Pulldown (see other forum entries) to pull down my new m2v file to 29.976 frames per second rather than encode at 29.976 with TMPGEnc (which repeats frames, making the output look jerky).

Any other ideas? Anyone?

At least I know it's a TMPGEnc problem.

Dreamhacker: In the Advanced, GOP tab of TMPGEnc, look for the Max Frames/GOP and change it to 15...

Unless you can force your authoring software to make the dvd, you may have to re-encode your video. Unless there is a re-GOPing program out there...Neuron2? heh heh
