LOTS of information and experience on this site! I have been reading a lot of threads on this site and have been very impressed with the knowledge I have seen so far. As you can see, this is my first post and hopefully someone can enlighten me in something I am trying to do. I say hi to everyone!! I am just getting acquainted with some of the software tools available on this site. Here is my scenario: I am a purist when it comes to video quality and when I backup a dvd, I want the best possible video without any compression. If I have to split over two dvds, then I will do that. My problem is in the "Passion". The initial menu allows you to select the audio and subtitles. When I split the dvds into two, the audio and subtitles change. I have been able to put the initial menu on the second disk and that allows me to reselect what I want then resume the movie. How can I get just the movie on the two disks and have the audio and subtitles remain the same? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

First, you should have used a better thread title like "Newbie here with a DVD Split Question". But since you're a newbie, we'll let you slide by.

Anyways, if you are talking about splitting a DVD-9 to 2 DVD-5s then with what tool are you doing your splits?

1) http://www.doom9.org/
2) Guides
3) DVD Backup (Full Guides) > DVD / miniDVD
4) DVD backup guides
5) DVD-9 -> 2 DVD±R

There are 2 guides, have you tried these?

Thanks for the replies,,and the slide 2Cool! Next time I will try and word the post a lot more towards the subject. I was using infoedit for the split in the beginning. Just after I posted this, I read some more of the "how to stuff" using infoedit and also the DVD9 - 2DVD+R. I will give these examples a try and see how it works out. Thanks again, and thanks for your patience.

Try using Nero Recode, I find it the easiest (coming from a newbie himself).

Splitting the dvd was the easy part. I have used infoedit, Recode, and DVDFab for this function and they all work well. The issue now is that I want just the movie with the Latin soundtrack and English subtitles to come on automatically without having to select anything else. I just got through reading some articles on VoSub and am going to try something with that later tonight. Thanks.

I'm at work at the moment but I can guide you. Maybe, you can post your question in the IFO/VOB Editors forum or hope one of the mods can move this there.

Thanks for all your replies and advice. PGCEdit and IFOEDIT worked for what I wanted to do after I started digging farther and reading closer. (Really paying attention!!!) I am alot wiser now with the resources and procedures on this board.
