I'm trying to backup the R1 DVD set of Taxi Season 1, and when rebuilding disc 1 it gives me the Buffler Overflow 0003 error about at the 79% mark. Here's the log:

I'm using CCE 2.50 SP and DVD-RB 0.74, and I've done absolutely no prepocessing to this DVD at all. I've also tried rebuilding it with Special Error Processing checked as well to no avail.
This is the first 0003 error I've had in quite a while, and thought we had this one licked! :(
I'm going to try Discs 2 and 3 today, and see if I get the same results as disc 1.

Interesting. After having some time to look it over a little better, it seems to skip over rebuilding segment 27 cellid 2 before it errors out as evidenced by the last couple of lines:
- Rebuilding segment 26 VOBID: 7 CELLID: 1
- Rebuilding segment 28 VOBID: 7 CELLID: 3
Also, looking over the files in the DVD-RB working directory, for VOBID 7, I do NOT have an .m2v file for CELLID 2!!! I've got the .vaf, .AVS and .FLG files for CELLID 2, but no .m2v file!
Also,I DVD-RB'd discs 2 and 3 of Taxi Season 1, and they came out just fine. It's only disc 1 that is giving me problems. Any suggestions? I'm not real savy when it comes to editing the .ini files, or replacing certain cells like I've read others on here have had success doing when they've had errors.
I'm re-encoding the entire disc 1 to verify that it errors out again with the same results, and to look at that log file to see if I notice anything out of the norm on it during the encoding process. I'd also like to catch DVD-RB in the act of trying encode segment 27, but I'm not sure if I'll get that lucky. I'll report back with the log and more info after it's done.

ok, after sitting here watching DVD-RB encode, it encoded the .vaf pass for segment 27, but it skipped the .m2v encoding/creation entirely, and started immediately after the .vaf pass for segment 27 into the .vaf pass for segment 28!

Can you paste the .ecl job for that segment here. Unless DVD-RB is generating some very odd jobs, it seems like a CCE error. I think DVD-RB just creates the job and then waits for CCE to finish both passes and close, so it looks like CCE is closing pre-maturely for some reason.

Do you want the entire rebuilder.elc file pasted in here? The forum says it is too many characters, and won't let me do it. :(
If I could just figure out a way to make CCE render that one .m2v file, and I could paste it into my working directory, I think it might work...ideas?

I do a lot of season disc's (24, CSI, Taxi,....) and I have had this happen with 2.50 before, don't know why but just does. I have found that CCE 2.67 (don't like 2.66, locks up a lot) works in the case that 2.50 won't (again, don't know why.. maybe a fix in the newer ver) and cce 2.67 looks better on interlaced discs.

Interesting. I never really gave much weight to the problem being 2.50 SP. I'm going to try it with 2.67, and see how it does. I'll report back after I'm done.

No, you don't need to paste the whole thing, just cut out the job for that segment. Each job contains an [item] and [file] section based on the filename of the segment. For example:

It looks fine to me. You might want to try pasting that job into item.ecl (be sure to keep the header on the file) and then launch CCE manually, load the job, and try to encode that segment, then make sure the .mpv file is there and try to rebuild again.
mpennel
4th February 2005, 13:41
well, I manually encoded it, and rebuilt, and didn't get any errors, but the disc wouldn't play correctly. That didn't surprise me, because by then I'd played around with different settings and enoders so much, that who knows what kind of shape the files were in by then. So, I just re encoded the entire disc, and inserted my manual segment 27 encoded file, and it appears to work so far. I'll burn it out and check for sure.:) :) :) :)

I am having the same issue however, with DVD-RB v0.75 and CCE v2.67. I have tried multiple versions of CCE (trial and non), have "upgraded" my DGDecode.dll file and still no luck. Have tried one-click and three-click with no avail. Continue to get buffer Overflow/overrun 0003. Here's my log to date:

hmmmm, interesting that when it goes to rebuild, it immediately starts with segment 6, and not segment 0. Did you make sure that you have .m2v files created for segments 0, 1, 2 3, 4, and 5?

This is driving me nuts as I've never encountered this problem before. I can try and re-do disc 1 (S2) and see if it creates an .m2v file. Am surprised that this is going on considering Season 1 went flawlessly and was prepared as all the other one's have.
Thank you for you help.

You might try creating each of the first 6 .m2v files manually like I had to do with Taxi Disc 1 (see above). It really isn't that hard.

Well, I'm still new at this myself, but I'd look over your working directory, which I believe you already have, and see which files have .AVS and .vaf and .FLG extentions, but no .m2v file that accompanies them of the same name. Those are your target .m2v files to manually create that are missing. Obviously, we believe they are the .m2v files for missing segments 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, but you might take a closer look at it and see if that coresponds with what we believe (or if there are others we haven't gotten to in the rebuilding stage that will be needed). Of couse, those missing .m2v files will have some LONG file names. Write down those missing files names (remember, there will be .AVS, .FLG, and .vaf files of the same name, so it's easy), and then open up your REBUILDER.ECL file (found in DVD-RB working directory), and find the section(s) in it that list the missing .m2v filenames. The sections will look like this:

What you want to do is copy each section into your ITEM.ECL file which is in the DVD-RB working directory, remember to keep the header!!!! This means that you only copy ONE section for the missing .m2v file you're wanting to create. Do not paste all the missing .m2v sections from the REBUILDER.ECL into the ITEM.ECL file at once! Then, run CCE manually, and load the ITEM.ECL file into it, and hit ENCODE. It will encode the .m2v file from the section of the REBUILDER.ECL file you copied, and it SHOULD even put the .m2v file back in your DVD-RB working directory. Once that is done, you'll want to repeat the process until you've created all of the missing .m2v files. Double check your DVD-RB working directory and make sure the missing .m2v files are now present. Then, you are ready to go to 3-click mode, and try REBUILDING.
Good Luck!

I am still getting that error codes. If you don't mind, what version(s) of DVD-RB are you using? CCE? AviSynth? I am thinking about deleting ALL version(s) of what I have for the programs required and starting from scratch. Something has changed and not sure what.
I am thinking about installing:
DVD-RB v0.75 (VIP)
CCE v2.70.0.05
AviSynth 2.5(5)
Newest version of DGDecode.dll
This is really starting to bother me.
btw..when you select "Trial" for CCE SP, what "option" should be set under the settings? CCE SP Basic, CCE SP or CCE SP (New)? I do know that the ecl doesen't apply to the new CCE so, know not to make that mistake.
Any thoughts??
Cheers

I guess I'm out of ideas. I don't use 2.70 CCE, I mainly use 2.50SP and 2.66. The rest of the software you list is pretty much the same versions.
Can you manually encode one of the .m2v files that are missing?
I've never tried the Trial settings for CCE...

When you set CCE SP Trial then you should use the path to cce sp (new). Also you may want to try and re rip in file mode instead of in iso mode. I dont know that it will help anything but it may. Something to try at least. I would take those first five segments that didnt encode and open the avs files for them in WMP and see if it gives you an error. I would also see what kind of info i could gather about those segments.. how many frames are they? etc. this can be found in the ecl file i think.. or the rebuilder.inf that is in working directory.

I initially tried in filemode and then, finally, have left it at ISO mode. I am going to go with my instincts first of deleting everything and starting from scratch and I'll report back. Just find this error interesting as I've never had this problem before with any other DVD's. Had the perfect setup and now, things have gone right into the crapper.
Will post my results after I "sort things out".
Thanks for all the help and idea's.
Cheers

I've just posted a batch file here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=617314#post617314) that will automate this. Enjoy!.
