View Full Version : Blurring a DVD5 goes wrong

Ok, let me first explain what i am (trying) to do.

My source in this case is a DVD 5 with a company logo on the right top (over the movie)
The DVD is setted up like this:

VTS_01_1.VOB - Company warning about pirating
VTS_02_1.VOB - Start of main movie
VTS_02_2.VOB - 2nd part of main movie
VTS_02_3.VOB - 3rd part of main movie
VTS_02_4.VOB - 4th part of main movie
VTS_02_5.VOB - Last part (end titling) of movie, FBI warning, Company intro

Its getting played in my dvd player like this:

01_1.vob - FBI warning - Company intro - 02_1 - 02_2 - 02_3 - 02_4 - End titling.

The thing i want to do is blur the logo.
Since it is already a DVD5 i dont have to re-encode or strip (no subs, only 1 audio channel).

This is where i get stuck, got i cant find a proper way on how to do this.

Why i tried is this:

Demux the audio channels of vob 02_1 untill 02_4 (logo only apears in this vobs)
Started VirtualDubMod frameserver, together with the logoaway filter.
(the blurring of the logo goes perfect, that is not the problem).

To stick to the orininal VOB size so i wouldnt loose any quality i calculated the size of the
new video streams as follow:

max encode size = original size - audio track size

Then i opened my Cinema Craft Encoder (2.7 SP)
I added the vdub frameserver (Serving 02_1.VOB), entered the max file size and unchecked audio (since i only need the video).
Then i started encoding. So far so good.
The video stream gets perfectly blurred and the filesize is a tiny bit smaller as the size I entered.
No problem i thought.

Then i grabbed MuxMan 0.11 to generate the first re-encoded VOB.
I selected my audio channel and my new encoded video file and muxed it together.

This it where it lacks. THe re-encoded VOB is about 5 / 10 MB bigger as the original.
Muxman created 2 VOBS out of it.

Thats where I stopped caus i figured out this is not the proper way to handle this.
Can anyone explain me what I do wrong, or what i should do to get it all fine?
I read allot, searched allot, but I get confused of the tons of applications and ways there are.

So...what i want is basicly this:

Blur the logo (it is no problem if all VOBS get blurred) of a DVD5 resulting in a new, properly working DVD5.

Edit:

For the record, there are no menu's/extras/subs/extra audio channels present in the movie.

(if this is not a newbie question, please forgive me ... didnt know where else to post)

i'm a little care-re-s about the company logo; but all i'm going to say is: if you can, use dvdshrink

And how would dvdshrink blur my logo? Think thats not a solution, and i dont realy know what you mean with the care-re-s... but ok.

i sometimes have tra-bowl remembering the correct spelling of words, so i sometimes type like that (ie. care-re-s = curious)

dvdshrink won't blur out the logo

i would help you more, but i might be helping a "bootlegger", which is a big NO NO

I see what you mean. First, im not a pirate/"bootlegger" (whats a bootlegger?:)). Its a commercial DVD wich is meanth (i think) as a promotional DVD with company logo on the top (just like you see in on television channels). I dont know if it is 100% legal to blur that out and make a backup of it, but its surely not intended to hit the illigal internet/warez market. (which is probebly what you mean)

Edit: typo

Found a solution i think. It was possible to load logoaway 3.5 with a small avi synth script into avisynth.

Its perfectly encoding now with the help of dvdrebuilder.
