Hey

burned loads of music files but now looking to burn a dvd

Got Octron Dvd-R 4x video sp120 and have a movie file that is 1,436,034kb & one that is 817,218kb

one is a mpg file and one is video file(video compression xvid audio format ac-3 acm audio decompressor)

Have the latest verision of Nero & 16x dvd-/+R/RW/DL looking to get Nerovision

Any hints, pointers as to what to do and what to avoid and speeds to burn at to play on your bog standard dvd player or ps2 ?

Do I need to convert it to another format and what is the best application for this Tmpgenc ?

Yes,

Tmpg is good for this. check the guides for what settings to use in order to ensure DVD compliance.

Then you need a DVD authoring prog to create the Disc structure and possibly a burning prog to burn the disk.

I'd recommend DVDmaestro for authoring, but there are many authoring progs. Also remember, some progs take system streams (muxed audio & video) others take only elementary streams (separate audio & video).

Once authored, a good and free burning solution is to use imgtool classic (create an .iso) in conjunction with DVDdecrypter (write mode)

I've never used this prog, but it sounds like it does. You may need to set the parameters or maybe there is a "DVD" preset. I tried Nero a few years ago and thought it was vile, bad burns, jerky playback.

Recently, I toyed with regular Nero bundled with a DVD rec drive a friend of mine bought, still didn't like it.

Having said that, I found this info on the website: It sounds good, I'd be curious to know if it works just as well.

Supported formats:

DVD-Video, DVD+VR, miniDVD, HD-BURN, VCD, SVCD
Intelligent PAL/NTSC pre-selection with option to set manually
4:3/16:9 aspect ratio option
top

DVD+VR
:

Create DVD+VR disc (on DVD+R/+RW discs). The DVD+VR can later be imported and edited on the PC or on home DVD+RW recorders that are DVD+VR compatible.
Import DVD+VR discs
Modify existing menus or create new ones and add/remove titles on imported DVD+VR discs
Change menu and add more titles after recording on
DVD+R/+RW
Add chapter marks and remove unwanted video segments (e.g. commercials)
Record directly to disc using real-time MPEG-2 encoder
top

Control of DV camcorders in VCR mode
Support for TV tuner cards and analog capture cards
Switch channels on TV tuner cards
Capture to MPEG-2, AVI
Configure pre-defined capture templates or create your own
Configure audio/video settings of capture devices
