I have been trying to look for article that related to my dilemma for years but failed to find any of them available. I am writing this in hope of anyone who happened to know the answer could spare me a piece of his wisdom.
My goal is to archive some of my DVD video music partially. Let's say that my DVD comes with 20 chapters and I would like to save only 14 of them in a dandom order such as 2, 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, so far and so on. They should be then re-authored so that when I pop the DVD into my setop DVD player it should be played in the order that I intended. Sometimes, to make the matter worse, I combined chapters that came from different DVDs (just to squeze things in to take full advantage of the available space).
What I did was to use DVD Decryptor to rip the chapters that I wanted seperately. I then used IfoEdit (with the following option: Create 1 PGC only, Create Chapter for each Cell) to write 4 new VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VTS_01_0.BUP, VTS_01_0.IFO for those VOB files that I just ripped. If the total size would fit on a 4.7 DVD then life is good. Otherwise, I just used DVD2One to compress them into the right size before burning them onto a DVD-R.
The outcome: If I happened to choose the chapters consecutively such as 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 (hopefully they are on the same VTS) then the DVD would work normally. What I mean is that when I press on the NEXT button on my remote control it would jump to the next chapter as intended. Now, if I picked the chapters that are spanned on different VTS such as VTS_01 and then some on VTS_02 thing would go out of order. What happened is that as long as they are on the same VTS if would go in the order that it should be. The moment the VTS changed, the DVD player would skipped the next chapter (that belongs to the new VTS) and jump all over. Sometimes, all of the chapters in the new VTS would not be played at all. Other times, it might play but it would jump back to the begining un-controllably. Needless to say, if the chapters came from various DVDs then things would get really nasty. Secondly, I am limited to only 9 chapters in IfoEdit, is there any way I can add more chapters? Create a PGC for each new VobID? I am thinking of VobEdit (for the first problem) is the solution but could ot figure out how or where to start.
You can post the answer here for the to see or email me at andrewnewman_2000@yahoo.com. I would like to express my thanks to moderator, master, or any individual of this forum could beam some light of hope. Also, I would further extend my appreciation for making this wonderful forum available.
