So I finished the first Version of AutoCQ. It is the brother of AutoQ for CCE.

The first Version based on Build 13016 of AutoCQ. The Gui is almost the same.

Hanks Encoder is nearly so fast like CCE. The Quality is better than with CCE. And till now HC is freeware.

1. die pred. wird erst nach neuem Eintag der Pfade gestartet.
2. am ende kommt oft ein Fehler dass er nicht renamen kann.
3. AVS Full wird nicht neu geschrieben ??

Your tool is fabulous!
Constant quant=9 seems to be DVD compliant. Picture quality is great (no blocks) but unfortunately, autoCQ doesn't correct the bitrate limit(max&min)-like in QuEnc0.59 with constant quant mode.
Can you create a GUI for the 1Pass and the 2d Pass with the encoder settings?

Actually only quant=9 is DVD compliant.
For the CCE quality I'm surprised you say it's worse! Why?
I don't see any other encoder wich uses so well the QFactor.

Please take into account that in the CPU and PROFILE commands the parameters must be uppercase. Otherwise, the HC takes the default value.

Notice that the BITRATE command specifies the average bitrate, not the min. bitrate.

CPU and Profile-Commands are now Uppercase. Min-Bitrate I changed to Avg.Bitrate

@freelock: I ment with fixing the bitrates, that I forgot in the Releases 0.1.0 and 0.2.0 that hank wants 8000000 instead of 8000.

@all: And once again. HC is coded by Hank315. Bugs related to the Encoder belongs to Hank. I know my self now that the 1Pass-Mode is not working yet. It has many bugs in it.

I encoded a movie in 0.20 (with the bitrate-bug (4500/8000/CQ2)) and got a file with 3180 MB. Then I encoded the same movie in 0.3.0 with (4500000/8000000/CQ2) and got the same size.

Both M2V-Files I could only compile with Rejig's DVDAuthor. IFOEdit, DVDLabsPro gave me errormessages. In IFOEdit it was bufferunderuns and in DVDLabsPro not DVD compliant.

Back to my CCE-Statement. I know that CCE is THE encoder for constant-quality-mode, but HC will be his enemy soon. We all know that we deal here with a working-release and this encoder is build from the scratch.

If somebody finds bugs in AutoCQ, posts are welcome ;)

Hi Ammon, thanks for your work!
Here are some sugestions for your GUI:
1. I think right now CQ mode in HC is not so good so it would be really usefull if you could add the regular 2 pass mode. CQ means for HC constant quant and not constant quality, like in CCE, I guess.
2. It would be good if you could add AUTO option for GOP, so HC will decide for himself.
3.Your avisynth script that you use for prediction doesn't work as expected in every case. For example my script that I tried to load in AutoCQ looks like this, aproximately:

Source=Mpeg2Source("C\blabla.d2v").Crop(blabla).BilinearResize(blabla)
Filtered=Source.AddBorders(blabla).Textsub(blabla).Limiter()
Return Filtered

When I load this in AutoCQ the prediction is not made on a shorter movie, but on the entire movie, because avisynth simply returns my line:
Return Filtered
and ignores your function that is put after. I noticed that avisynth always returns the clip mentioned on the line with the first "return" command that it encounters, and ignores evrething else.
So my sugestion is to use Import() function, instead copy/paste the source script.

No, I did'nt. I tried the AutoCQ for HC and the prediction worked like a champ, impressive! :eek: So, I'll try also AutoQ (for CCE) since you've said that one uses the same "principle" that AutoCQ ...;)

Hi Amnon82,

I have been quite impressed by the latest NuEnc version 0.21 which danpos is kind enough to host. It has a CQ mode that is VBV and bitrate compliant, which simply means that the resulting stream should be DVD compliant.

Would you be interested in modifying AutoCQ so it can work with NuEnc?

It is a string for the ini of hc. For calculation in the svcd-mode to get the sum of the discs it is int. The transfer form string to int was a problem in the old versions. I fixed it in 0.5.0. With 0.5.0 I did a testencode. The Source was a SVCD and I wanted to reencode it to DVD. With CQ-Value 2 it wasn't DVD compatible. 3 worked, cos the higest bitrate was 8800 in the sample-encode. Then I encoded the first disc to DVD. Muxed it with mplex. It worked, but I can't compile it with DVD-Lab. So hank has work to do to get it fixed in the encoder.

Could you say me how is your approach to obtain final CQ?

I see in your program one can set a safe value of 3 for CQ. It is necessary still? or with *CQMAXBITRATE that Hank315 implemented it is enough to deal with DVD compliance?

My tool, that you can see in HC-Qmatic (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=95428), has it approach working with *CQMAXBITRATE option, but has problems to reach an accurate final size. (The posted tool is not so precise as 3 decimal places, but I am working on it now. Precission is about +/- 3%.

Can you give me some clues.

You must double-click to open an avs-file. This is the only way AutoCQ can get the frames of the file which are needed for the calculation. Pasting the the AVS won't work.

The AVS posted above is wrong. Here is the corrected one:
