i have this problem. i encoded a dvd with nero recode to mp4 avc with bframes, nero only allows 2 audio tracks but i wanted 3 audio streams. is there an easy way of adding the 3rd stream or demuxing everything and muxing them again?

mpeg4ip's mp4creator
and before someone proposes other tools: yes it might be possible, but it also might f* up things heavily, so i would use mp4creator

thanks a lot for the suggestion and i will try that out right away. are you saying that mp4creator can demux them or can i just add another audio stream to it? but im also new to this whole thing so can u please post a url to the binary of mp4creator as im finding it hard to find it and maybe even a little tutorial? thanks in advance. i've used mp4ui and that doesnt work. is there a gui for mp4creator or can u plz show the cmds to get it working?

create a .txt file and place it in the same folder as mp4creator.exe and the nero .mp4
add the following text in the .txt: mp4creator.exe -c input.aac nero.mp4
with input.aac being the audio stream you want to mux into the nero.mp4 (input files can be of type: .aac .mp3)
rename the .txt to .bat and execute it, which will add the audio to your .mp4
make sure you backup your nero.mp4 somewhere to not loose it if something goes wrong

i use mpc with 3ivx... this is getting annoying ive been typing cmds for the last 2 hours and nothing is working. i tried aac's i tried mp3's nothing is working i think i might just rename the external aac the same as the mp4 and let mpc do the muxing ;)
thanks a lot but still so annoyed

mpc has an internal aac decoder that might be buggy, try bsplayer
also 3ivx doesnt handle avc in mp4

bsplayer wont even open these mp4 files created by nero after i installed 3ivx and moonlight. i disabled mpc's aac decoder and nero showtime plays the file just fine so im sure its a filter problem. btw is there a way to lable the audio stream? like "English" or something like that?

i disabled mpc's aac decoder and nero showtime plays the file just fine so im sure its a filter problem. seems so, beaware nero's filters will not let you use multiple audio streams in a player other than showtime
btw is there a way to lable the audio stream? like "English" or something like that?afaik the audio stream is by default labelled as english, but no tool cares about that language flag

whats weird is that while in mpc the other two audio streams work perfectly fine, u can see them, u can select them and sound actually comes out! the third one added later however is selectable but no output. i think i might try demuxing with mp4creator and creating my own mp4 from scratch and see if that works.

try muxing the third aac stream the same way with mp4creator into .mp4 (but not into the nero, but a new one) and try to play this new aac-only mp4
andyle2k
29th January 2005, 19:27
see that for some reason works... an mp4 file with just the third audio track works in mpc

hm you could try two things:
1) run the "-optimize" switch on your not working "nero.mp4"
2) mux the avc stream and the two other aac streams into the thirdaac-only .mp4 files

i thought of that too but unfortunately i dont know hot to extract the avc stream and muxing it again because it asks for a raw file or an avi and i dont know what the extension for a 'raw' file is and the avc stream i extracted isnt a proper avi file either... another problem that presents itself is how do i get the audio streams back in order?

-extract=<track-id> to get raw streams (aac and avc)
you can find out the trackid with mp4ui (dont use mp4ui for muxing, demuxing of avc!)
mp4creator doesnt handle avc-in-avi muxing, you need raw (the extension doesnt matter for mp4creator)
another problem that presents itself is how do i get the audio streams back in order?hm i assume muxing the audio stream you want to be first as first in mp4

when u extract it gives u xx.mp4.tx
u cant add that file into a new mp4 with mp4creator. it gave me 'unknown file type'
what now?

hm are you sure you use the latest compile of mp4creator (1.2.5)? i dont get this ismacompliance message when importing raw avc to .mp4

yep i tried most builds of mp4creator all gave me that error... can u plz post ur binary of mp4creator then? i also get a 'Error decoding sei message' when adding the .264 file
my command is mp4creator -rate=25 -c x.264 x.mp4
bond

ah yes, sorry i forgot this sei message error, thats a bug currently existing with nero streams :B
i discussed it with bill may here (https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1216931&forum_id=59136), there he also posted a patch which might fix that issue, you might want to contact celtic_druid and ask him whether he can make a compile with that patch

another muxing method coming to my mind:
after installing nero recode2 grab a copy of graphedit (doom9 download directory) and mux with the nero dshow muxer the extra audio stream into .mp4
andyle2k
30th January 2005, 14:07
thanks for that... well i have no clue how to use graphedit so can u please give the instructions i tried muxing and demuxing with it once and all hell broke loose so im a bit scared to go back to it

too lazy, but it has been often explained how it works, use search
other possibility: get the new patched mp4creater as i described above

Just 2 small questions:
1) Why is:
mp4creator -c input-he.aac existing.mp4 better than
mp4box -add input_he.aac -sbr existing.mp4 -out combined.mp4
2) -optimize: is this for mp4creator?
Is this commandline correct?: mp4creator -optimize combined.mp4

mp4box has the advantage that it can explicitely signal he-aac (-sbr switch), still most he-aac decoders can also detect he-aac implicitely anyways
2) -optimize: is this for mp4creator?
Is this commandline correct?: mp4creator -optimize combined.mp4 right

This one seems to produce working .mp4 from raw .264 stream.
But there is a problem with -rate=23.976
First I made avc mp4 in Nero Recode - in.mp4 (http://pogo-stick.nm.ru/in.mp4).
Then extract raw avc (mp4creator -extract=3 in.mp4) - raw.264 (http://pogo-stick.nm.ru/raw.264).
Then muxed to mp4 (mp4creator -create=raw.264 -rate=23.976 out.mp4) - out.mp4 (http://pogo-stick.nm.ru/out.mp4).
mp4creator said "extra bytes after SEI message", by the way.
But resulting mp4 has 23.981 fps. That should be causing synch problems after muxing with audio.

try reading out the info about the .mp4 with mp4box too, to see if mp4ui is correct
