View Full Version : Strange problem with angle movie. Please help...

I tryed to encode The Abyss SE Special Features DVD.
For the first time I had a movie that was 100 mb undersized.
It had a small 5 minute clip with 4 different angles (the 5 minute clip was a part of a huge VTS with lots and lots of pictures).
I play the first angle with no problems at all but when I shift angle it freezes. I read various thread about angles but did not find a solution. I read something about having to copy over vobs but that does not seem as the problem in this case.
The angles are there, but I can't shift between them.
I'm using the latest DVDRB build and this is the first time i tried encoding a angle movie.
What can the problem be? and is it related to the undersize issue?
Furthermore I would like to know if I'm right if I say that DVDRB also encoded the MANY still images? It just seemed that it was done with CBR. (I choose VBR in the option menu) and the other titles where done this way.
Please help, I'm tried to see if running the output through Dvdremake would solve the prob. But instead it made 2 angles insted of the original 4????

can you shift between the 2 angles ?
it sounds as if DVDRB has only copied over the 2nd angle and has not dealt with the 3rd and 4th.
as of still frames, then are done cbr regardless of what you set the program at.
think jdobbs might need to take a look at this

Still frames are encoded with CBR. That's to bypass some problems that can occur in CCE when dealing with VBR on very small sources. The fact is, the it really doesn't have much effect, even for a huge number of them. Remember, a 2 hour movie can have over 200,000 pictures in it.

I can't shift between the angles that Dvdremake just made a number of 2 instead of 4. (Strange)
I tryed to playback the original dvd and it played the 4 different angles without any probs. But I realized that it corrected something when I did "get vts sectors" with ifo edit (on the original version)
The same things got corrected on the backed up version. But it still will not play right.
Do you guys think it will make any differences if I re-encode/compile now that "something" got corrected on the original dvd??? Or will it be the same

So you are preprocessing with Remake? Remember do not bother jdobbs with problems in preprocessed sources.
Try RB on an unprocessed source. If the problem persists, post again.
And please do not answer "I always do a preprocessing with Remake and RB does not have problems"
If I understood you wrong and you are not preprocessing, please forgive me.

Then I guess I'll have to forgive you, cause I did not pre-process.
I only tried to fix it with Dvdremake AFTERWARDS. Still not working though.

Thanks for forgiven me:)
Did you try to process through RB your "corrected2 original (the one you pass thrugh IfoEdit)?
I know I'm contradicting myself, but sometimes a bad authored DVD needs some kind or re-authoring before RB can process correctly.
Other idea: Try ripping again with Decrypter in File mode. Be sure you have the "Process Angles" NO SELECTED

I already tried the first suggestion. Can't find the angle option on Dvdecrypter. Where is it?

In Tools\Settings\File Mode , above right is a "Multi Angle Processing" check box. Be sure to have it unchecked

I had this problem with the red shoes. The end result was undersized. One of the VOBs was missing, (the sketchbook comparison, with 2 angles,) so I copied it over and this brought the size back to where expected, but I had to do a Mock Strip to get that feature of the DVD working.
If you can, at all, copy the original VOB and Mock Strip it, that should work, but it sounds like you can't do that from what you said. My situation was easy because it was one single VOB for that feature.
