I need some more details. I have no idea where to go with "I get an error." -- What disc? What version? Preprocessing? Indications?
I'm sure there has to be something to fix, but since others aren't getting it -- there has to be something unique about the way you are doing you encodes that can identify what is causing it. If we figure out what that is, I can fix it.

Iam using all the programs the guide listed to get and install. I Dameon Tools the Iso file of the movie. I choose the options i want and I hit Process. it reads reads the info for each ep on the dvd. After it reads all the vts sets, i get an error Run Time Error 53 "File Not Found" and it just stops and quits out of the program.

Try opening the folder in PGCEdit (which you can find in the VOB and IFO editing forum here), it will report problems like missing or invalid files. Maybe it will find something amiss.
Also, just to clarify, you are hitting "prepare" in 3-click mode, right? OR are you hitting "transcode" in one click mode?

But this is happening for me on every dvd and yes the 3-click mode.
Great General error, why doesn't the program TELL me what it cant find. It knows what its looking for so it would be nice if it could tell me what it cant seem to find.

You probably are getting a severe lack of help due to your lack of info. Give exact version numbers of all programs involved in your process. Have you done any preprocessing? Have you tried ripping in File mode with dvd decrypter instead of in iso mode? What options are you using? What dvd? Sorry but alot more info is needed to be able to give you useful troubleshooting tips.
EDIT: Just from what you are saying... "Every dvd does this" than that leads me to believe that something is wrong either with your backup process, or with your appliation setup. Because I have NO issues with the new DVD-RB.

i have experienced this error 53 myself
using 74 to 71 i was not able to encode any single title any more (trying cce 270 + 250)
v 070 then let me use cce250
i was not able to get v 71-74 to work with cce despite deleting the ini file and using different rb versions
uninstalling rb + cce 270 completely solved my problem
(of course i REinstalled everything from stack)
this very minute i'm running 072 with cce 270 - later on i will try 075
are there any settings saved in the registry?
because i tried v072 before uninstalling rb and it didnt help whereas ow 072 works fine again
all versions did work before but i have no idea what caused this error
all i remember is using HC_CLI as encoder
this ended up in an error (which of course i forgot)
for a couple of days i didnt use rb and next all seems messed up
but i dont dare calling HC_CLI the culprit as i might have missed something else

I wish I could get it at least once so I could chase it down.

Has anyone gotten this with v0.75? The fix below could very well have been a cause for this as well -- although I am admittedly reaching here.
- Found and fixed a bug that was causing "Runtime Error 9" at the end
of the PREPARE phase.
This bug was causing an index value into a table to be invalid -- it just happens that the table points to the REBUILDER.INF file. It happens right at the end of PREPARE and immediately following printing the "- Reduction Level", "Overall Bitrate", and "Space for Video" values.
Sound possible?

it did happen at the end of the prepare phase - yes
as i said, it happend with numerous versions of rb and different cce versions
only 070 worked BEFORE i uninstalled everything
++++++++++
before i uninstaleld the old version(s) i copied the complete folder to a different hdd
i run v074 from tha spot this minute and now it worked flawlessly with cce 270
074 was started with the old settings + ini

I don't know if you guys ever solved this error or not, but i think it was the mounting of the iso that caused it. i "ripped" my iso to my harddrive using file mode and tried the prepare phase again and it worked. i am using the equivalent OPV mode for rebuilder instead of my usual 3-4 pass VBR mode. just in case i conufsed anyone there, i was still using OPV (one pass w/ analysis) mode when i had the error 53 before. maybe you can mount some dvds.. i dont know. if it means anything, this dvd (Toy Story) is multi-angle/interleaved. so maybe you cant mount multi-angle/interleaved dvds? haha.. i dont know.
**EDIT** This just in: I know nothing.
i never use iso/mounting
so in my case it had definitely nothing to do with an image

Hi all,
After Preparation stage I also got the "Runtime error file not found error 53"
I solved this by correcting the path to CCE SP. (in options, setup)
The path to CCE SP was still pointing to an old version of CCE, which of course did not exist anymore after I installed another CCE version.
It would be nice if DVD rebuilder would clear the path if the path or the file does not exist...

I have started getting this run-time error 53
the dvd is : a beautiful mind
the settings are, HC encoder, best(slower), three click, or one click, result is the same,
the assets are preprocessed through vobblanker 2.0.0.1 and ifoedit 0.96, some titles have been blanked, and audio have been stripped..
as soon as I click encode or in one click mode as soon as the encoding is supposed to begin; the version of hc is hcbatch. version of dvd rebuilder 0.84.1 beta (pro version)
source are ripped in file mode with dvd decripter, all the vob and ifo upos have been removed.
note: I changed the mode, intead of HC i chooced cce trial sp through ccl, encoding started.. but not with HC...
dvd shrink can open the files

The setup screen's path must not be pointed properly to the HC executable.

I've added a check in the encoder routine that will output a more descriptive error and exit gracefully instead of giving the "53" -- it will be a part of v0.85.

@Hifreak - from your ini files it shows the source as "HARRY POTTER 3 SHRINKED".
Can you confirm which tools you used to preprocess the film before using dvd-rb?
It may be a shot in the dark, but the other recent report of error 53 involved Vobblanker.
