This post is for users of the Philips DVP642 stand alone dvd/mpeg-4 player and AutoGK.

Most of you have seen what I'll call the "Smeared Pixelated Effect" that can be fixed by pressing the "Disc Menu" button on the remote twice. If you don't know what I mean by the "Smeared Pixelated Effect" its when a video plays and its almost unwatchable, the colors are totally off, possibly inverted, and instead of crisp pixels there are large blocks that smear with movement.

When I encode a video with AutoGK and XviD I get the "Smeared Pixelated Effect" on my DVP642, when I encode a video with AutoGK and DivX it looks good on the DVP642. Does anybody know how to encode a video using AutoGK and XviD and not get the "Smeared Pixelated Effect" on the DVP642?

Thanks,
Trevor

Yes, install AutoGK with the ESS Option enabled.
