I have a strange problem and I don't know for sure if it's vdubs fault or the codecs in use. Both Vdub and Vdubmod will randomly close without giving any kind of error notice during encoding. This happened to me a number of times when using Xvid but also when trying x264.

Has anybody got a clue what might be the problem?

I've also had these errors. They occur a lot in VirtualDubMod 1.5.10. Try using 1.5.4.1 - I've found it still happens but it's a lot less frequent.

Got the exact same problem, and it happens A LOT. I don't know what's wrong but I'll try with 1.5.4.1 and report back :)

ok still no luck. I'm suspecting mkv output to be the problem...

I'm pretty sure it's not the MKV output problem, at least not for me since it also happened when outputting to AVI.

The problem hasn't occured for a while now though, but I have no idea why the problem stopped.

Ok I found out something. If I don't mux audio while encoding I got no crash, if I do, it crashs from time to time. I tried that with avi and mkv with the same result.
Strange bug indeed :)
so just don't mux while encoding :)

edit: vdubmod just crashed again, is there any devloper on this board to check that out? It's a bit anoying :|

I double checked everything, there's definitly something wrong with virtual dub/vdubmod.
I checked my avisynth script and it run perfect with no crash (I do mpeg2 encode a lot too).
I checked my hardware config and everything is working fine.
I checked my Xvid version (last dev beta but it's pretty stable, got some avs2avi encode with no problem).
I checked my vdub/vdubmod version, even latest bug fixes did nothing to solve the problem.
Vdub/vdubmod keeps quitting with no error message at random. Sometimes I can do a full pass, sometimes it quit a 10% or 50% or...

I did some search on every vdub related forum I know of, and found nothing about this issue. The strange thing is every encoding programs I use (like HC, CCE, Real producer, etc..) work perfectly fine

If someone know anything about this please give me clues

*sigh* I am gonna extend this plea with mine. Vdub/Vdubmod keeps quitting for no reason and on random basis while running my avs script. ( which consists of AVISource(..) and Textsub(..) )

Really wierd. Any help/suggestions would be welcome

Update : Right, I loaded the script on TMPGEnc and I got the following error :
"Write error occured at address 03619F1E of module 'xvidcore.dll' with 00000000"
