Hi,

I am trying to backup 6 extra dvds which are coming with each of 3 lord of the rings movie.Backuping main movies is without any problem.
Preparation phase is done (see below rebuilder.log) but encoding phase doesn`t start and dvd-rb get frozen (pc is normally available for work and I don`t have overclocked machine).

I tried CCE 2.50, 2.64, 2.67, quenc and rejig with 0.68 - 0.70 versions of RB.Avisynth was reinstalled but without success.
"Normal" movies are working but these bonus dvds not.

Could someone advise?
Thanks

Suggetions (and I must confess I have not idea of what it is happening):

- Try with Shrink, as a way to check the integrity of the source. And remember, as RB does not actually encode the angle parts, the needed compression could be a lot less that the figure showed by RB.

- It has happened something similar when the bitrate goes to low (what it is the average bitrate for the cell it is encoding when the freezze occurs?). Try selecting Half D1 to all the DVD (Options/AVS Options/ Advanced / Resize to Half D1 / Apply to All)

Thanks, I will try Half D1.I also forgot notice that everything is working using Instant copy but result quality is poor.

I assume you are in one-click mode? What happens if you go to three-click mode and press the "ENCODE" button?

using Half d1 and extra save space is with same results like before.

I tried of course also three click mode but it is similar like 1 click mode, preparation seems to be finished (see last three rows in log file), but "encode" button is not available for click and after while is RB not responding.

I have just started backing up my LOTR EE trilogy. I have only done Fellowship so far. The first few times I tried to backup the extras disks, I had the same problem. Then I looked at the DVD-Rb temp folder. It had about 2000 avs scripts! So, I simply switched to one click mode last night, pressed 'backup' and waited. Once the 'prepare' phase was done, DVD-RB was 'frozen' again. I decided to just wait and I simply went to bed.

This morning when I woke up, DVD-Rb was encoding the files. I guess you just have to give it time to analyze the avs scripts and begin the encoding process. I hope this helps.

2000 segments? Wow... I'll take a look and see how that could have an effect.

i ahve done this disks successfully (with cce 2.5), but yes the prepare stage took a very long time because of the numerous segments. My advice is to wait longer to make sure prepare is finishing

yeah.. the gui locks up (just seems to be an intense amount of calculation happening not allowing the windows messages to get through to refresh the gui)... after like 10 mins it finishes and lets you encode. ( this was rotkee disk3)

The 2000 segments are probably for the still image galleries which are simply put massive..

You are absolutely right. It is all for the image gallery. DVD-RB encodes and builds the disk perfectly, though. If a normal dvd takes about 7 hours to enocode and build, each of these extras disks takes about 13 hours!! It's okay, I'll wait.

yeah.. i restarted mine up last night and encoded just fine. and compiled this morning. works perfect.. just would be cool if the progress bar would be used/refreshed during analysing so it doesnt look like its stuck.

I'll fix it.
