View Full Version : Run Time Error 52: Bad file name or number??

I've used DVD-RB successfully several times (w/CCE), but it's been a while, and for the first time I'm getting an error. I've upgraded the program to the latest version.

Basically, as soon as I click "prepare" (I do the 3 steps separately), and *.d2v file creation begins, I immediately get the error: "Run Time Error 52: Bad file name or number."

Of note is that I'm trying to process files which I have altered with VobBlanker, reducing the size of the DVD9 already down by about 1GB. I thought it might have something to do with this, but I still had the original untouched files (as ripped from the DVD) on my hard drive, so I tried to process those. I got the same error immediately.

I've checked my paths, and they're correct, though I don't see how that would really matter since it's the d2v creation step where things stop.

Any ideas?

Forget it. My idiocy has reached an all-time high. :p

The working directory didn't exist (I assumed RB would create it if it didn't).

Ah well ....

Had the same error :o maybe it's a good idea to have a sticky with a
"known error's -> solution list":)

If you use my installer you won't get that kind of errors... 'cause it will make you choose one existing folder or create one :)

Auh... No
The error happened when you make new project for a dvd and set the working directory. Then close RB, del de directory and open RB again and hit transcode (RB remembers the old dir's but aren't there anymore)

This happened when i prepeared some batches and after that did some cleaning :o

I've been working on clearing up these goofy errors... you should see an improvement in v0.73.

Can't wait... I'm still using v 0.66a because of the errors I'm getting with newer versions. 0.66a just works :)

I personally wouldn't use a version that old. Look at the list of changes that have happened since then...

I wouldn't either if newer versions didn't crashed for me where the one I'm using doesn't crash. I'll wait until 0.73 is released and I'll give it a try :)
