Philips DVP-642, Firmware 1109 (also with 0531)

While playing some XVIDs, the audio gets gradually out of sync (looks like a bad japanese movie translation). My temporary workaround is to RW a few secs then playback (every 5-10 Mins), but it will get out of sync again later.

I'm hesitant to call Philips on this since they officially won't support Mpeg4 formats other than DIVX 3,4,5

Has anyone found another solution to this, like specific parameters in VirtualDub?

i had the same problem with the pinnacle showcenter. my fix was to make sure mp3 was CBR not VBR.

also, i moved away from manual encoding to autogk and it's fixed most of the sync problems as well that i was having before when using manual GK or virtualdub.

can you confirm the mp3 is VBR that is causing you problems?

Yup... They're all VBR.

As you mentionned, the only XVID/VBR_MP3 files that play OK are those I encoded myself using AutoGK.

you could always re-encode the mp3 in virtualdub with CBR if you have to. and keep the video the same.
