Hi, I'm having this strange problem.

I always used AutoGK to convert my PDTV to XVID/Avi.
Since version 1.85 AutoGK tells me there's no audio track !
I'm sure it's there since I rip the same MPeg with GK 0.33.2 and everythings come up fine. But I cannot understand why. I did not change anything in my recoding system (Twinhan USB Box).

I already tried to analyze MPEG file with several tools and it's ok, 1 video and 1 audio stream, dvd compliant mpeg2 file.

Can someone help me ?

I opened provided sample with AutoGK 1.87 and I see "Audio Stream 0 MPEG" as the choice for audio...

weird! i tried with autogk 1.86 and 1.87, and always get "No Audio Track", just tried again now !!!

what could be the problem ???

UPDATE: got back to 1.85 everything works fine....

Version 1.86 beta is out

Based on AutoGK Assistant GUI, I've integrated its functionality into main application. All hidden options are now accessible via CTRL-F9. Change log:

- added audio detection for the file mode (no more 'Unknown Audio')

The problem started when this "feature" was added...
Maybe this can help to give me clues!

UPDATE 2
I tried on another PC. First download & install 1.60 (last stable). Same .mpg file say "unknown audio" but it works. Then download & install 1.88b patch, same problem "No Audio Track" :| I'm really lost !

I did the same and it works ok.
So last question: which OS are you running?

that was happening to me, I would click something and the audio would get unselected, now I just look at the audio selection right before I click add job and I haven't had issues again.

Of course I check audio selection but only "No Audio Track" is listed.

I use Windows XP, ENGLISH, +SP2, on a laptop (Dell Latitude D600) mostly, but I tested also on my Desktop PC (Windows XP also but ITALIAN + SP2).

This cannot be happening... Try this: copy bbSummary.exe from tools dir of AutoGK to where you have mpg file. then run "bbSummary yoursample.mpg 2000" in command line shell - what do you see as an output?

P.S. Can you post a screenshot of you AutoGK screen as well please (so that I can see that audio doesn't have any selection inside).

here's the output of "bbSummary.exe"

I don't understand... Last thing to check: do you have a file "agk.tbl" in your temp directory (after you've selected mpeg file)? Usual place for such file would be \Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\temp

marujo
25th January 2005, 23:42
No. I can't find the file "agk.tbl" in any of 2 partition (C: & D: )

I have another idea: may be your installation of XP is not detected as XP but rather Win98 (I saw that problem once). What does AutoGK says in the beginning of every encode?

don't think so....

Bummer. So facts are:

- you system is properly detected as WinXP
- bbSummary is working ok on your system
- but agk.tbl file is not created

Do you have TEMP/TMP dirs defined in the system properties? It looks to me as it could be:

- temp dir is undefined in the system
- you don't have the rights to write in the temp dir

Are you running AutoGK under admin account?

marujo

checked all:

1) yes, I have administrator account
2) yes TEMP & TMP are defined in the right way \Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\temp on both
3) yes, I have the rights to write in that folder, I tried to copy, rename & delete file from windows desktop

but, if the problem is there, why don't make this thing configurable ? I mean having the possibility to choos temp dir of autogk ? otherwise (I don't know why) I won't be able to use it.

BTW, if this can help, I tried to rip a DVD and there the audio track names are showed perfectly (all languages of DVD)

UPDATE: I just saw that other software installed on my laptop write/update/delete files from that TMP/TEMP folder. So from system point of view everything is fine. Maybe the way AutoGK handles this file ?

well... I did again different tests, no luck :(

len0x, I tried to contat you but seems you're offline all day.

I confirm those behaviour.

Simple way to reproduce:

Select last (more precisely, any non-first) VOB on any DVD in file mode. In corresponding combobox you can see only "No audio track".
(I have in mind, that older versions shows "Unknown audio").

Moreover. In one of two tested this way movies DGIndex not peeked this VOB automatically and not start indexing (after manually loading VOB via menu works OK with warning about not closed GOP).

P.S. AutoGK 1.89 on Win98

P.P.S. As you may guess, some peoples (as me) in some cases may wish encode video VOB sequence partially rather than encoding whole DVD and after that trim unnecessary parts. And it's not bad if this encoding be not silent ;-)

Doh, I actually fixed marujo's problem in 1.89, so yours is different.

Does it make any difference which vob you selected? If not then its probaly win9x related problem. Can you please report all the information I asked from marujo in this thread.
