lines when viewing dvd, any dvd, thin transparent lines.

okay guys, i dont have a problem with the process of ripping or viewing dvds rather a picture problem. when i view any dvd usually near the bottom of the viewing screen i find maybe 20 transparent lines each that shift the color maybe less than .5mm horizontally, 4 feet away i cant even tell there is a difference but up close i can see a little shifting. when i play the actual dvd, iso or burned dvd its always the same lines. i tried different programs and a different dvd player i got a dvd-rom and dvd burner but both give the same results. on a sidenote it gets worse as i maximize the screen when i minimize i cant see it at all. its not a big deal but i was just wondering someone knew what the problem was

happened to any dvd i placed in my comp, over 20 so far same problem. no problems when viewing on a real tv as the resolution is much lower i cant differentiate any problems.

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

This "sounds" to me like one of two possible problems, from your description. a video card / video driver issue. Check with your video card vendor's web site, and make sure you have up to date drivers.

A CRT monitor that needs degaussing, or perhaps service. If you have an alternative monitor available, try swapping them. Your monitor may have an automatic degaussing feature; check your owner's manual.

you are aboslutely right i think it has something to do with my video card. because i was playing around with the settings to the drivers and it affects the lines causing more. I downloaded new drivers and everything but still have the same problem,,

my settings are 1280*1024 at 60hz

am i doing something wrong here.

this is a brand new vid card and comp, 6800gt vid card and i am using a lcd monitor.

You mention in your last post that you're running an LCD monitor; have you tried jacking up your monitor's refresh rate? This may or may not play into your problem, but here's a cool little article on monitor refresh rates (http://www.d-silence.com/video/refresh.shtml). Be sure to read on through to the third page where it gets to XP/2000 OS's. There are also links on that last page to tools for use in managing refresh rates with ATI and NVIDIA cards.

lol dont ask me how or why. i installed the forceware drivers and viola it works. but it was my second time installing them that it worked. lol i have no idea what i did but thanks guys.
