After a long while of processing (about 2 hours or so) I get an error that says something like:

found an inconsistency between the source and rebuild phases -- aborting

Does anyone know why this may be and is there anything I can do about it?

Sorry we can't read your mind. Could you describe what you are doing, what programs you are using and what script you used.

Hi, I have and error like this in DVD Rebuilder after encode a DVD whith QuEnc option, in last "Rebuild".
But I no have idea why this means.....

I'm not an expert at this by any means )in fact this is my first attempt), so I may not immediately know all the infomration that must be supplied. But I'll take stab at it:

1. I am using DVD Rebuilder and QuEnc version 1.0.0.1, it says decoder version is 1.0.1.0, and Avisynth version 2.5.5.0. I have specified the path to QuEnc and to the MPEG2DEC3dg.dll decoder. I have high quality mode of QUEnc enabled.

2. The process runs after hitting the "transcode" button overnight, and when I return it gives me the error stated above.

It sounds like at least one other person has this problem -- what is the solution?

What vewrsion of QEnc are you using? there is not a "QuEnc version 1.0.0.1" version

The version of QuEnc listed in the "Help - Display Versions" menu of DVD-RB is 1.0.0.1. If it isn't as reported, that could be another bug. The version should be the most recent as I just followed the instructions available on this site.

The exact error text is:

Error 0006: DVD-RB has found an inconsistency in source data between the PREPARE and REBUILD phases. Aborting.

Error 0006: DVD-RB has found an inconsistency in source data between the PREPARE and REBUILD phases. Aborting. The version "1.0.0.1" is a default and usually means the information isn't available. Nic has indicated he will add version information to the next release. The last time I think the version info was actually included is v0.54 -- so the only way to tell since then is with filesize or date/time.

There are known problems with the latest version. You should return to either QuEnc v0.54 or v0.57.

I have just run the QuEnc.exe file (alone, just double clicking from Windows Explorer) and in the top of the QuEnc window it appears the version (In this case "QuEnc 0.59 [ALPHA]"

That version has been reported to work properly only if you go into the "Advanced Options" and set "MPEG-2 Mux Profile" to "No Audio". The next version of DVD-RB (v0.73) will do that for you. I would also suggest that you go to that forum and download Beta 2, there are bugs in the Alpha version.

It has been so long I have forgotten where the beta 1 version of QuEnc is -- can someone point me to it?

And, another question, if set "MPEG-1 Mux Profile" to "No Audio" does that mean there will be no audio in the DVD movie tracks? (In other words, no sound to go with the video?)

You will still have the audio you select. In DVD-RB, QuEnc is only used to create the video output. The original audio from the source disc is remuxed with the new QuEnc video during the "REBUILD" phase. QuEnc has the ability to do other tasks beyond just the way it is used with DVD-RB, that's what that option is for.

OK, so then I just need a pointer to a working version of QuENc (the one downloaded from the Downloads link on this site gives me the same version I have). Also, I checked QuEnc's advanced options and can't find a "No Audio" option.

You can get it here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=84857&perpage=20&pagenumber=1) -- it has been reported to work correctly when set but I haven't tested it on a full DVD. I know 0.57 and 0.54 work.

"No Audio" is under "MPEG-2 Mux Profile" (bottom left of the screen)

OK, version 0.54 of QuEnc solved the problem. I still couldn't locate 0.57 despite several poeple waving in the general direction.

Does anyone know the plans for QuEnc to solve this bug and post a newer version witll all the other updates?

its not a bug.. its a new feature that is incompatible (for the short term) with dvdrb.. sorta like when cce changes the .ecl settings on a new version. any application tested with older versions now has to adjust to the new version.
