i currently use the pinnacle showcenter and have tried the d-link dsm-320 as well, and i'm not happy with either of them. they both play the xvid mpeg4 files choppy on the screen when using ethernet to stream them from my pc. of course, they look fine on my pc when i play them there after encoding with auto gk.
i had my pc hooked up to the tv, but kinda noisy and bulky to have in my entertainment center, so i wanted to find a small player that would stream these xvid files to my tv from my computer.
any users out there use something they're happy with that's not a pc?
thanks,

I have a Phillips DVP-642 I'm happy with. It shows nice and clear on my projector, which is higher res than reg. TV; it's progressive output, so the crappy artifacts u experienced don't apply.
The DVP 642 is super cheap too; probably based on the ESS chipset, so don't use GMC/QPEL in ur encodes. XviD and DivX both work well.

cnet's review says the dvp642 does not play dts soundtracks. so if you're like myself and enjoy keeping the dts track, pass this one up.

yeah but if ur reciever has dts decoding it will play it,,dude i use to watch my movies from pc to tv,,then i got the 642,,so much easier,,plus everything is backed up to discs that way,,so if ur pc crashes hard you dont lose all your flicks

Hi, I was wondering what kind of projector you have and whether you were are satisfied with it? I'm thinking about buying one when the price drops below $700/800.
