hi!

i've realised the benefits of temporal soften when creating hazy ghosting, however in moments of medium-low motion it prefers not to blend across the frames, thus creating a moment of jerkiness. no matter how high i make the soften values and the scene threshold, i can't seem to avoid these jerky moments.

can someone tell me how to beat this (if possible) or point me towards a more effective filter? also, what are the constraints of the variables for temporalsoften? i used soften values of 500+ in an effort to reduce the unwanted effect...

thanks

What's the avisynth version you are running?

Using temporalsoften(N,255,255,255,2) should practically blend all frames together with a weighting of 1/N each. Quite a while back, there was a bug in temporalsoften that didn't include the predecessor to the actual frame at all - but that was some sub-versions ago.

im running version 2.56, built on 28th september 2004.

so i guess high values are just clipped to 255... but still, even with scenechange at 255+, there are still some frames that aren't fully blended... i cant post examples right now but i'll get some soon...

thanks
