View Full Version : Encoding problem

I have had problems encoding two out of 50 DVD's to XviD format. The problem is that about one hour into the movie, the picture gets heavily distorted where blocks get displaced in each frame. I have used both Gordian Knot and AutoGK to perform the encode, with the same result. I also use the XviD codec for playback. The version used is XviD-1.0.2-29082004 _Final Release_. Koepi built.

Any help is appreciated!

i had 1 of these also were the dvd rip was fine the avs file would play fine all the way thru but whenever i tried 2 compress it w/ ANY mpeg4 codec it would destort/pixelate at around the same place (hour orso in)

it didnt seem that it was the codec doing it b cuz i tried many, i also tried multiple dvd rippers to dump the vobs & even tried 2 re-encode the vobs 2 a lower mpeg2 bitrate but had the same results.

it seemed like it had sumthin 2do w/ the frame serverin process(cuz as i said the avs & d2v files played fine) so i tried 1 of those "1 clk" dvd backup progs & it had the same result, directly workin from the dvd or tryin form the vobs on the hd.

sooo my final assumtion was that this noname independent film company had come up w/ the best copy protection yet(altho i did do a 1:1 copy of it that worked fine)

heres the original thread when i was battlein this out: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79012
