be warned, i don't really know what i talk about ;)

i heard/read about fft and dct and AFAIK they convert the picture information to frequences and then drop some of them that only contain fine detail to compress the picture

so my idea is this:
a special dissolve
both clips get converted to frequences then we first replace the high (or low) frquences of clip 1 by the ones from clip 2 and the the lower (higher) ones

this might give an interesting looking disolve

now pleace comment (i know i'll get torn apart now, but it was worth a try...*g*)

interesting. this would be like a swimmy "edge fade" i guess.

i'm not sure how useful such a transition would be, but i guess it couldn't possibly be worse than those awful "wedding video" transitions that come standard with all the NLEs.

personally i just use fades, mixes and cuts. but there's always a situation where another transition might be useful (star wars is full of wipes).
