View Full Version : XviD-1.1 b1 and AGK and standalones

I had been using XviD-1.1.-127-13102004 with AGK for standalone compatability by checking the VBV box on the AS@L5 2nd pass more box.

I'd like to use XviD-1.1.0-Beta1-16012005 with AGK. The VBV box is no longer in this version. How should I configure this version?

To be clear, I realize AGK will not directly support xvid 1.1 until RC1, but I'm wondering how to configure xvid 1.1 under the current versions.

Hi Richard

You can look here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?postid=584224#post584224
Short answer is (but I can't beat Sharktooth when it comes to short answers :) ) VBV is enabled by default since XVID-CVS dec 19-20 and following.
Now other question, is it advisable to use, atm inside AGK, latest CVS (Koepi 1.1.0 beta1)? I am less confident, I went back to the 1.03 recently, try Koepi, try Celtic-druid build or Affar and see by yourself what is best for you.

Ok, i'll try to be "less" short...
beta1 support VBV thru profiles. If you look at the profiles dropdown you will notice there are DNX profiles.
To use VBV you (or the program you're using) should set the appropriate profile (DXN HT for standalones compatibility) in the codec.
The short answare is: AutoGK still doesnt support 1.1 beta1.

If I understand correctly, the way to get VBV is to use the DXN HT profile and AGK uses the AS@L5 profile, so you can't use VBV with AGK and xvid 1.1 b1.

If you want to use VBV, you'd have to go back to an earlier version of 1.1 which has VBV checkbox.

Based on the current version of xvid 1.1, all lenOx would have to do is use DXN HT rather AS@L5.

Did I get this right?

@Did,

Hi. Why did you go back to 1.03?

Hi. Why did you go back to 1.03?
Hummm, I understood -maybe wrongly- that VBV is enabled by default whatever the profile so Agk using the As@L5 profile should work the way you expect it (better spike-rate control for your SAP)

I went back to 1.03 (very good implementation) because, atm, the 1.1 beta inside AGK doesn't satisfy me, less quality, more blocks etc...
I confirm my suggestion: try by yourself the beta1 as well as the other recent CVS from Celtic-Druid (hosted by Sharktooth with many flavors) :) see here: http://ebola.gamersrevolt.it/celticdruid/
or Affar see here: http://www.divxhouse.com/codecs/codecs.php

I really should do a comparison of 1.1b1 and 1.03

IIRC AS@L5 has not the same buffer settings as DXN HT profile, so it won't be optimal for standalones...
