I really need some help from one of the pro's here. I'm no newb to the computer scene, but to the dvd creation world I am but a fetus. I'm trying to do what I would consider the simpliest of simple tasks and feel like I may as well be smashing my head into a wall.
I've got a digital camera that takes mpeg1 videos @ 640x480 (25 FPS). All I'm trying to do is author a fun DVD to send to family that will have simple menus and allow someone to play the videos. The menus are no problem, the issue I have is around preparing the assets.
The authoring tool I'm trialing is DVDLab and it requires standard video sizes in order to meet NTSC standards etc etc etc. So I'm thinking, I can add 40 pixel borders to the sides of the video (to get to 720x480), upsample the FPS to 29.97 and I'll be golden. What is the best way to do this or am I going down the wrong road?
Here is what I've tried and the questions I have:
I demuxed the mpeg within DVDLab and converted the audio to 48K. Then I tried using avisynth and virtualdub to add the borders and save as an avi with upsampled the fps, ending up with a 3 gig avi file.
Is the audio going to be able to sync with the video now that I've changed the FPS? Second, do I need to re-encode the avi to mpg? Third, is there not an easier way to deal with this? If someone can recommend a process or software package that will make my life easier, I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks, sorry for the long winded post
