Codec + other meanings? please

Reading thro' various posts here I notice where installing the latest codec may help certain tasks. I did download the recent codec and installed on my PC, but no Idea where it is or what it does?

This leads me to ask if there is a glossery of terms for this mindfield of technical jargon.

E.G. What is decrypting? What is encrypting? etc.
Just a thought for this forum.!! please no LOL's

There are several places to look things up, Doomy. www.doom9.org has a glossary. You'll see it in the menu on the left.

This forum has a sticky thread in the General Discussion area with abbreviations for non-native English users.

www.acronymfinder.com is a very helpful website for looking up all sorts of acronyms.

www.wikipedia.org is another helpful website.
