ess support?

If I encode my xvids with ess standalone support, will this effect them in anyway other than working better on ess standalones? Will it make them not work on other standalones or on my computer? Just curious cause I'm thinking of my future a/v stuff, and I don't know what I'll be getting.

You didn't say so, but I'll assume you're using AutoGK with the ESS option enabled (?).

If so, then the answer is yes; they'll not only play in a DVD/MPEG-4 player with the ESS chipset, but also in any such player that uses a different chipset, and on your computer.
