why ain't i getting the BOOT

a couple week ago, i install a promise 100 tx2 for my 3 HD, and move my 4 cd-rom* to the onboard ide controller (i think that's what it called), 1 week later, my pc won't boot (or freezes at the 1st screen) unless the cd-burner is plugin (i like to leave them all unplug, until i need to uses them)

suggestions, anybody?
