Hi all,

Having problems with GK 0.33.1 when encoding using XVid. It seems as if no matter what bitrate settings I set in GK, the Xvid codec doesn't recieve the settings when encoding. It works perfectly with DivX5 though.

I have both GK 0.33.1 and AutoGK 1.86b installed. Can that be an issue? Xvid encoding works flawlessly with AutoGK though, but the reason I need to use GK is that I am encoding captured AVI files (using PicVideo MJPEG) to Mpeg-4 (preferrably XviD encoded) files, and there is no way to do that with AutoGK as far as I know.

I'm pretty sure this issue has been discussed before, but I can't find the answer to this (yes I have tried searching for it).

Regards
/Chris

There have been undersize/oversize issues reported with XviD. If not caused by a procedural error, these are usually caused by doing an install on top of a previous release of XviD.

Try removing and re-installing XviD. If the problem isn't resolved, then there may be a procedural problem. For the latter, post your _GKnot.log file.

Thanks for the tip,

- Tried uninstalling-reinstalling XviD - Same result
- Tried uninstalling-rebooting-reinstalling XviD - Same result
- Tried uninstalling-rebooting-reinstalling XviD, AutoGK & GordianKnot, seems to be the way to go.

It looks id I had messed up the initial codec settings in GK somehow. When I was about to start the encoding, GK told me there were no default settings for the XviD codec (is this normal??). After setting up the codec according to the doom9 guide my first (very small) test encode went fairly well. Now I have another one running using another bitrate. If everything is working now I should end up with a movie with the specified bitrate instead of the bitrate settings from my previous encode. In about half an hour I will know...
