{clueless noob} Don't know where to start with ripping

I have Nero 6 and want to back up a video for my very destructive nephew. I figure it would be easier doing it this way than to buy a new dvd all the time. I've been scrolling though this site just not sure where to start.:confused:

provided you are planning on backing up DVD to DVD i think the best place to start would be DVDshrink!
