I am trying to burn an .img file with DVD Decryptor version 3.5.2.0 and I get an "Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format" error. I am running windows xp sp1 i have a pioneer dvr-104 burner and have tried to burn on ritek 4x discs and also verbatium discs and get the same error. I tried to go back to 3.5.1.0 but same problem occurred. This problem has happened all of a sudden because Decryptor has also worked for me especially 3.5.1. Thank you for the help in advance.

I assume you've both got the latest firmware on the drives?

Yes latest firmware.
I thought this was weird because I did previously burn successfully with Decryptor and this error just recently started.

Light, yes it is the latest firmware. I do however think this might be a sign of my burner dying, not to sure. Light I don't know what would trigger this error in Decryptor with media that is compatible with the burner, or has anyone heard of this being a sign of the burner dying? Thank you everyone for your help and advice, also Light great work on Decryptor it is a great and very useful application.

Below is the log. I am not quite sure what is wrong as it did burn successfully on other +RW media, but not on this -R media. As mentioned earlier, it did burn successfully on this batch of media before.

Also as the subject states, I tried the software with the same 4x DVD-R and it "burned successfully" with the test mode and disc. However when I unchecked the test mode option, the log of the failed burn is listed above. So my question is what is test mode suppose to do?

ok, this is the REAL error
W 14:18:09 Failed to Write Sectors 727840 - 727871 - Write Error
Retries often return different (incorrect) ones.
Because it works in test mode we know it's not a problem with the program talking to the drive. It fails in non test mode because your drive isn't happy with the discs. 'Test' mode just means no actual data is written to the disc. Within the program, it's identical to a normal burn. Within hardware, I guess it just doesn't turn the lasers write power right up, or doesn't turn it on at all.

I have the same problem. For months all was working well. Now I get exactly what was written previous, only I also get it in test mode. I have a Memorex 16X dual layer.
I can use it with Roxio and yet Decryter will no longer burn.
If I take same media and put it in my other DVD burner...bingo..copies...
Anyone find a solution..
Thanks for all your efforts everyone.

So you're using the F16...
~ Are you using the latest firmware (BWSE)?
~ What kind of media are you using? (read what DVD Decrypter tells you, not what it says on the packaging... e.g., "Destination Media Type: DVD-R (Disc ID: TTG02)")... and have you changed your media during this time between it working and it not working?
~ Is your drive in a place that it prone to dust, smoke or other particulates? If so, you might want to try a lens cleaner.

Same here, first time I ran into something like this though. I've been burning to other DVD-Rs from the very same cakebox just fine yesterday evening and now I'm getting a write error at 4x at 94%.

I'm afraid my writer might die on me as well, cause it acted strangely the other day, i.e. when starting to burn it audibly needed a few tries before it actually startrd. It sounded like the DVD-R starting to spin up as it does when the tray has just been closed and the drive tries to identify what's been put into it - only that it does this like 10 times or so and then starts burning.

It actually helps taking a look at the coaster before throwing it into the dumpster infuriated:

Further browsing of said cakebox turned out 5 of 25 DVD-Rs where messed up like this. Unacceptable for a brand like Verbatim if you ask me.
