i have a Canon LCD projector (projecting 10' across) setup in my living room and just to see what the quality difference is between the three methods of backing up a movie, i've tried the following:

Movie: Saving Private Ryan - approx. 68% reduction (just movie without extras).

DVDShrink 3.2
DVDRebuilder .69 with Quenc .57 and CCESP 2.67.00.10 Trial (3pass)

i've encoded the movie three different ways and see absolutely no difference between the three methods. i've read in this and many other forums many times and people have always sworned that CCE will make a significant improvement.

do i not have a keen eye for good video or am i doing something totally wrong?

You will rarely see any difference when you do reduction of around &0% and above. If you do one around 50 - 60% reduction then there should be quite a difference between Shrnk and CCE/Quenc.

If you use the AEC function of Shrink that will make it even harder to tell the difference with some DVD's.

Frankly, at that reduction I don't know how you could miss the difference. It could be your projector smooths the output somehow...
