Really cutting (avi) files without reencoding - any software recommedations?

Hi,

I would like to cut avi files. Usually I have some ripped series I would like to cut out the start and end credits. I know I can do this with Virtual Dub and I have done so in the past. But what I really want to know if there is any (it can be commercial) software out there that can simply cut avis *without* reencoding them.

To give an example. I tried "All Video Splitter" and the one from Riverpast and even another. What I like about the commercial ones is that you can add many splits and they will all get combined in the final output. *But* every software I tried will reencode the files in question. I simply want them cut like Virtual Dub would do it. It would be ideal if the software supported some kind of batch mode.

Can anyone recommend any software to me that can do that? It is not a problem if the software is commercial.

grumpy, yeah, but I don't want to use Virtual Dub. I am looking for a software that can do multiple splits.

I believe that there is no such software, even comercial.
Why should programmers be less lazy than programm users ? :)

Actually, this is not so simple thing to cut AVI without recoding. You can do it only by keyframes. Of sourse smart software will recode only necessary parts, but I saw only Videoredo that works so, with Mpeg2, not AVI.
So, it goes not without 'pedestrian' way. Cut part by keyframes, then cut part which is not on key boundary with recode, then join them and so on for all required parts. I made it many times and its not so hard. Actually in most cases cut points are at keyframes because of scenechanges which usually generate keyframe.

Just to add that for AVI with VBR MP3 audio you need Nandub or V Dub mode.

VirtuaslDub can do "multiple splits", just select the part you want to remove and press del...

you still have to keep account for keyframes though... but thats a given.

That's funny. But, at least, now I know ;) In my case it is probably cheaper to just burn another DVD than to invest hours upon hours reencoding.
