WARNING

I bought one of these and it destroyed all of the DVD's that I tried to rewind. The weird thing is that it really did speed up the CD's that I rewound (rewinded??)

I do not understand why this happened.

Their customer service could not help me. Can U

Did you have them facing the right way?

It only works on one side.

Double sided discs won't work from what I have read.

Be careful with audio cd's as the discs will be so much faster that
the audio is sped up.

Actually, that may be an improvement.

My DVD player doesn't even have a rewind function. The video rental store keeps charging me for returning DVDs than haven't been rewound. I keep asking them, "What am I suppose to do?" But, cool, now I know what to do... buy the rewinder and next time I buy a DVD player, don't skimp, get one with more features.

Just in case you still have one of the old double-sided flipper DVDs, don't forget to rewind *both* sides of it. Else you could get in trouble.

I use a old gramophone to rewind my DVDs !!!

Just crank it backwards... :D

crank it backwards? that's te stoopid way.

just flip the disc over and you'll rewind the other side. of course this means that for flippers you'll have to place side b first, then side a, but you'll get used to that.

Turn the gramophone upside down (risky), or stand on your head.

Note that if you rewind your DVDs with a gramophone, the audio will play backwards. Useful for listening to satanic messages.

Please take this advice seriously. Turning the gramophone upside down does indeed work (at least it did for me), but, be very, very careful.

I forgot that my gramphone was one of the old "liquid cooled" versions. Once I got the thing upside down, it put to much pressure on the cooling coils and one of them burst. I'm not sure what the liquid consists of, but some of it squirted on the cat and blinded him. My wife is really pissed about this.

If you have one of these "LC" versions, make sure no pets are around when you flip it.

I got a new idea !!!

Simply attach the discs as hubcaps in the mid of ya rims...

This way you can rewind them while driving back to the rental-store !!!

Only problem is you need to drive backwards the whole way.

Man the thing is only like $22. All this will cost you so much more, in time and aggravation if not money.

It's the same with dummies like me that spend $400 on cooling to overclock the CPU, but for that same $400 I could have a much better CPU to begin with and wouldn't have fried the first 3 when I forgot to turn on the water pump.

This thing doesn't just rewind, it seems to choose alternate realities. I rewound my DVR recording of last nights game and the Colts won!

You forgot to say this thing is able to label square DVD's, though apparently the labeler does not work in Japan :(
Review:Until this product it took me hours to rewind my DVD's (I have one of the original consumer models and it's really slow) and it is so quiet. No moving parts, no batteries, no A.C.. You can even put the DVD in the wrong way and it works the same. I even tried putting in two at a time (to save time) and it operates the same. The green color was a bad choice - it clashes with the Windows opening screen colors, so I spray painted a more suitable color - for those in the art field, PMS 234 was my choice.The unit works equally well in the UK where I have also used it. The label maker accessory DOES NOT work in Japan.
To use the labeler on square DVD's you need to fold the label corners over the side of the DVD and around to the back. This also seems to allow DVD's configured for overseas work when I get back to the U.S.

I'm cheap, so made my own using a hamster wheel. Poor little thing gets plum tuckered after three or four movies though.

I also have my own method of rewinding DVDs. Gently scrape off the data layer(s) with a razor, and mix the data flakes in a bowl with some epoxy. Stir vigorously in a counter-clockwise direction. This will produce a silvery paste. Using a spatula, apply the paste to the opposite side of the DVD disc. Voila!

This has the added bonus of defeating all forms of DVD encryption technology.

Do you use some sort of sieve to actually drain the encryption? Or is the scrambling enough to make it inefficient? Does it need rinsing? I want to try it out :)

We use the earth's magnetic field to cancel the encryption, which is why you must stir counter-clockwise. (But if you live below the equator you may have to stir clockwise; I'm not sure about that.)
Am I glad I don't live at the North Pole, fancy stirring up and down. Would you have to stir up - or down, first? Good question, and I think I will fill a bug report for the rewinder ASAP :p

This is great I used to put the dvd on my pinky finger and rewound by hand. This is going to save me so much time. Man I can't tell you how many stupid looks I get at work when I do this. Now I just bought in my autowinder and they were so impressed they gave me a raise. The guys that came up with this should be given a medal or something.

At first I thought it was an electric DVD scratch remover, but I guess I gave them too much credit. I'm not a marketing genius, but making it a cleaner/polisher wouldn't be a bad idea. Just tie it into 'rewinding' the DVD back in time to when it was new.

You all can avoid rewinding your DVD's by playing them on your turntable instead. Trouble is, there's no picture... at least you get the sound though.

P.S. most of my DVD's are poorly encoded or something, because all I hear for the sound is "thwip-thwip-thwip-thwip-thwip..." Did John Williams die recently? Someone ought to be scoring these things better.

There's a benefit to no picture... at least I don't have to suffer the lack of screenplays and CGI-laden junk, I can just use WinAMP's "Milkdrop" vis plugin while spinning my DVD's on my Thorens TD-160.

Another benefit is that turntables ignore P-UOPS. You can easily skip over FBI warnings and forced previews simply by moving the stylus. ;)

I tried to play the DVD on my turntable and now its all scratched up and it wont even rewind. It still works in the toaster. I think I need to get a new toaster because the DVD pops up warped after about a minute or so.

Hhhmpph,you weren't supposed to turn the table ;). Though now the damage is done, I'm afraid you will need to scrape all the coating off the toaster and follow fcchandler's previous instructions on re-coating the thing with a spatula.

I'm not even going to try to fix it. I'm just going to sell the dvd on ebay. People there buy anything:)

I can't tell the right speed... with a DVD full of Disney cartoons, it sounds like Donald Duck talking no matter what speed I play it at...
