Hi,

I´m not a commandline freak, sorry for that. So I have always some problems to find a correct one. Can someone give me a hint how to use? I want to transfer the video to AVI, then cut it in VDubMod and then transfer back to MP4 with avi2raw and mp4creator. I know how to use the last ones but not mp42avi.

I'm not sure you want MP42AVI for this, since it's for showing the output of some .bt script on the screen. If you are looking for a way of dumping the video track in the .mp4 file into an .avi, MP4Box will let you do just that.

MP4Box -info <filename.mp4>

Write down the # of the video track.

MP4Box -avi <# of vid track> <filename.mp4>

Be warned, however, that mp4 muxers like MP4Box drop frames by default when creating the .mp4 files. The resulting .avi would have "bad drop frames" and you'd have desync problems.

Does the extraction work with AVC in MP4box?

No, you need mp4creator and some avi muxer for that type of conversion.

We are both talking about conversion from MP4 to AVI with AVC? All other things seem to be possible for me.

I believe so, yes.

Alternatively, you can try ffmpeg -vcodec copy for the job. That will save you the avi muxing part.

There's an avc2avi tool in x264 repository, that can help with raw .264 to avi conversion, btw.

Yikes! It's there under tools/ and I've just realised it! It isn't build by default though: you'll have to run gcc on it separately.

At least now I know my win32 cross-compiler works... At least under wine... Thanks ak!

im getting a "slight" diference in a raw file converted in avc2avi...

im using the -f 29.90 parameter, but the file gets a 29.969 fps.... this may affect sync when muxing??? film framerate also get this minor variation...
