View Full Version : Lenox Possible Update To AutoGK?

First I will explain the new copywright protection in movies is causing audio sync errors upon encoding the video so I was wondering if there would be some way to implement a fix which would stop folks from having to seperate the audio and video and cut out the extra frames and then readjust the audio here is a good example of resident evil 2 though easy to rip an annoyance to encode....

This is the post below providing the explanation of what needs to be fixed and current measures being takken to fix the issues of the new bad sector disk now inorder for autogk to continue to be automatic as its name interperets as well as the whole plan behind the program set and go by nature I believe it is important there is work to be done in this field on the encoding side as well...

POST IS BELOW:

Ripping was ez as cake had it ripped for a long time...

But upon numerous encodes I keep finding that the audio is not in sync with the video though the VOB files play perfectly in sync...

Programs used DVD Decryptor latest version yes it supports ripping Resident Evil Apocalypse... When I rip into IFO mode I have no problems and the VOB's play in perfect sync off of the hard drive but the problem is for some reason upon encode there seems to be some setting I am missing because my audio is out of sync from the get.

The only thing I can figure is it is the dummy sectors which are inserted into the the RIP upon ripping which is causing an issue if so you would think that this could be repaird by rebuilding the IFO in IFO edit then I proceed to do this and I check the newly built VOB files and the audio becomes out of sync in the opposite direction.

Anyone had any luck ripping and encoding resident evil apocalypse to achive perfect audio sync in an xvid encode please let me know what you did...

VOB BLANKER is not needed in this case as well as the ripping is fully supported by DVD Decryptor so that is not the issue I have pretty much ironed out all the possiblities on my own short of reinserting the audio manually and chopping off some of the first minute and 15 seconds or better of the movie or adding a delay in the start of the audio I dunno what to do but I have spent countless hours searching repetative posts at differnt forums looking for the answer it appears that I am much a lone ranger in backing up my DVD's to Xvid rather then just doing it the newbie way burn DVD for DVD any help on this would greatly be appreciated.

Wish someone could find an easier way. I used FairUse to make the Xvid file...then Virtual dub to seperate the audio and video. Then cut the extra black screen video at the begining of the movie with Virtual Dub. Opened the wav file in CoolEdit Pro and trimed the audio at the begining till I got it insync. Not the easiest way Im sure, but it was all I could figure out for the time being.

if you are just having trouble with the xvid not being in sync and the audio is not stretched then you can choose the interleave option on the audio stream in vdubmod and set the audio forward or backward how ever many miliseconds you need and set both to direct stream copy. if the audio is stretched then you'll have to go through a lot more steps. try the first option first. if this doesn't work i'll give you a link for stretched audio.

I don't see an automatic solution to the problem...

I have seen this same issue in a few encodes I did. The VOBs would play in prefect sync, but when encoded using AutoGK there is a major A/V async.

The issue I believe comes due to a delay in the AC3 stream which is detected and played properly in a DVDPlayer, but slips thru the cracks in AutoGK. But the delay would be properly captured when ripping in IFO mode using DVD Decrypter and stored in the VTS_01 - Stream Information.txt file like this:
0x80 - Audio - AC3 / 6ch / 48kHz / DRC / English / LBA: 60 / PTS: 00:00:00.099 / Delay: 11394ms
So just re-interleave the finished AVI in Nandub or AVIMux-GUI with the same delay interval (in my case 11394ms) and it would come out perfectly in sync.

But it is a problem indeed, I wonder if there was a way where the makers of DVD decrypter could have like an advanced IFO rip just for autogk which would somehow mark the beginning and end of the dummie sectors on the disk though this might not slow down the process of the folks who back there content up in DVD format it does give headaches to the sides of the Divx/Xvid backups of material...

I just figured that since there was perfectly synced audio in the vob files upon opening them up with powerDVD that this would have to be something done on the encoding end in order to detect and properly discard the irrelevant data...

Oh well suppose one guy cant be expected to do it all but hell it was worth a shot maybe this would either be a task for the folks making either dvd decryptor or the folks making virtualdub filters or modifications.

It has to be possible if the coders would work in conjunction to come up with a solution to detect or flag the start and ending of bad sectors... There has got to be some possibility.

A hopeful I guess but I dont think this is the last of the sector protected disks as I suspect it is only the beginning to the onslaught of next generation media as well well and when this happens I wont be the only person looking for a solution to this problem there will be amny folks who too will be annoyed by its presence still having ale effects on the backup community.

So stream info file is not useful in this case...
I'd like to play with those kinds of DVDs myself, but Resident Evil is not out here until Feb 14th...

You got like a friend or someones address I'll snail mail you the logs and stream information as well as the VOB's on some DVDR's...

But this is just for developments in the back up error not piracy to cover my arse .... Cough .... ;)

I know I'm a newb never posted here so you probably dont have enough trust in me to give out an address maybe a mod of the forum or someone who you know I could DVDR all the info to and have them send it to yah only thing I can think of short of FTPing it and I really dont want a dam DMCA ban again lol!

Wonder if DSPguru is aware of the issue hrmmm ... I guess this would be more a task for the likes of him no idea on how to reach em though
If you know em give em that log or whatever works. Or I'll have to give a look around and checkout where to find him hell he could be here for all I know havent gave it a look all too in depth yet...

I am pretty sure the issue here to conquer is the sector protection which is causing the erronous behavior.

Either way theres gotta be a way to defeat the issue as I stated before I dont think it will be a problem of the past. But will get worse in the future as more and more of these annoying DVD's are released.

I'll link this thread to the audio forum hey new forum once I get used to where everything is i'll gedderdone in a better fashion but none the less troubleshooting is benificial in this matter.
