Video overlay problems ?

Does anyone know what it going on with this: whenever I run 2 video sterams at once, the second one get a yellowish and blueish film over it... I can get some screenshots if you need them. Thanks in advance for any help on this topic.

Maybe it has something to do with one using the video overlay and one not using it.

Same thing over here, mine is a Nvidia card, never knew what caused it, bit to lazy :)

Overlay

Video overlay enables the display of full-motion video on monitor screen without the constraints of the video BUS speed. The overlay can be either digital (eg. an .AVI-file or DVD-Video) or analog (eg. real-time NTSC or PAL video from a video capture board). The analog signal is first decoded to a digital format by the capture board, stored into a frame buffer, and then fed directly to the graphics processor's RAMDAC.

When using video overlay the CPU does not have to process any of the video information saving valuable processing power for actual applications. From http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/overlay.cfm which was found by using Google.

Sorry, well thats just retarted, it must be my GeForce 4, you can't see me, but I am crying. Is there no way to fix it?

I changed your title a bit. I had similar problems with my GeForce 4, dunno what to do about it. Some screenshots would be nice.

There, notice the red circle I made, it actually makes a second video in the top left, just its all yellow, it does not make sense to me.

Well, I mailed Tech Support at Nvidia, please someone post if you have any info, but if not, check back, I will post there message when I recive it.

Microsoft let me down yet again. Nvidia told me that there is no way to disable the Video Overlay directly, it must be done in the media player you are currently useing. Well WMP won't allow you to disable it, or at least I can't find out how. However, the newest versions of Divx Player have this feature disabled by default, and therefore you do not get the problems I have been haveing. And yes, it does work. I played 32 movies at once in seperate Divx Players and not one had the problem in the pictures above. So I suggest you use Divx player, or another player that allows you to disable Video Overlay. I hope this helps you guys, thanks for all the help :)

Media player classic allows you to use another video renderer then overlay.

Media PLayer 9 allows you to disable video overlay in Tools --> Options --> Performence --> Advanced --> uncheck it. Unfortunatly, it does not fix the problem for some reason? I could always use other players, but Windows Media Player is the only player I have found that works with my PVR 250 Remote.

Yes the PVR 250 Remote works on Windows Media player. Ok I figured it out, you have to make sure none of your video devices use overlay, otherwise you are in trouble. However, without overlay you are not takeing advantage of your Nvidia for processing video, in other words, when you do stuff your video skips. So in my opinion, DON'T BUY NVIDIA, I am going to go by a 9800 soon I guess. Kinda stinks that Nvidia is so dumb they can't figure out they shouldn't make crappy chipsets.

I think it will be solved in next versions.
Previous drivers did not have this problem i am aware of.

Well I really need a new Graphics card anyways, does anyone know what ATI card starts getting better than my Nvidia GeForce 4 TI 4600. Like is it 9400, 9800, 9200? Unfortunatly I can;t get any of the new new GCards, I don't have PCI Express, but thats ok, I would think a 9800 would do me good for now, but still thats like 200-300 bucks :(. I need money, anyone want to rob a bank with me. <-- joke!

Nvidia 6200GT provides good money value. imho this is the first that can actually replace a 4200i

hmm well in my opinion KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT before making such statements.

most video cards only come with 1 overlay, including an ati 9800

thats the 9800 manual(in pdf) viewable as html. read the overlay tab section. infact you would probably have to go back to a very old card to find one that supports more. more support is being put in to VMR instead so you are better off using that instead of overlay anyway(selectable in MediaPlayerClassic for example).

so if you use overlay and open a second video an ati card will use software rendering just the same as nvidia cards.

will you still get the colour problem ? i dont know , maybe not but you would have to try it on your system to find out.
