TMPG Stream looks un-natural

I have a stream I started out with that is in HD from a TS file that was converted to MPEG. The format of the original video is 1280x720 59.94 fps. I am attempting to use TMPGENC Plus to convert the MPEG2 file into a DVD compliant stream. When I get done the over all qualty of the MPG file is excellent except for one problem.

The source video is an outdoor sporting event. When the movie plays back it the video has the apperance of drama style movie and give the appears you are watching a drama type of movie.

I have tried many settings in TMPGENC with no success? Any ideas?

(If you are wondering why I am doing all of these extra steps instead of using some of the easier one-step utilites, my intent is to keep the Dolby 5.1 stream from the TS stream and place it back in the DVD)

You've reduced the frame rate, so the smoothness of the fast sports action will be compromised.

What do you mean by "drama type of movie"? That's hardly precise language.

I don't think it is a frame rate issue. This broadcast was in 720p with a 59fps frame rate, I have had other games in 1080i with a 29.97 frame rate with similair results.

What I mean by the "drama effect". Watch a football game on TV, then watch a movie where they are playing football. My recording looks more like the movie than the game. I am assuming it involve some of the different settngs in TMPGENC that involve interlace type settings.

I'm sorry, but you still are not stating the symptom in any kind of language I can understand. I don't have ready access to a movie with people playing football.

Can't you just tell us what the temporal or spatial issue is that you are referring to? E.g., the motion is not as smooth. Or, the video does not appear as sharp. There must be something concrete you can point to.

It seems to loose the sharpeness or black level. Kind of like a a TV where somebody messed with the display settings.

Well, not sure about this (you could post a screenshot), but when I try to convert XviD to MPEG-2, the movie gets like brighter, less sharp...
The brightness gives kinda the look of a bad quality movie :\
Not sure if this is the same problem, but sounds a little like it :\
