View Full Version : Ffdshow problem: Is it possible to choose the decoding codec?

I just had trouble viewing the results of an AutoGK xvid encode because, for some reason, ffdshow produced green output. I finally removed it, and the next codec used, the Intervideo decoder, allowed ok rendering. This seems strange, however. Is there no way I can set xvid as the decoder for xvid encodes? It's as though I would have to remove all the other contenders for Xvid to be selected.
Thank you for your help.

Start ... (All) Programs ... ffdshow ... Configuration
Select Codecs in left most window (top line)
Select a codec.
Select either libvacodec to have ffdshow decode that format, or select disabled to have Windows select the codec by FourCC code.

You might also try this free app, MMCompView, very handy.

@ohhowhappy
it sounds as if your xvid decoder weren't installed properly. i use to get such misery when it happens. try to reinstall (uninstall&install) it and see what happens.

Sorry for the absence. Uninstalling and reinstalling did it. Thanks for your help.
