Removing extraneous Windows installations

I've had two W2K installations on my HDD for some time. I get a screen just after the 2 initial bootup screens that asks me to select which installation I want to use. I just recently bought a second computer and to format the drive and install W2K I used my original computer (with the new HDD installed in it - don't ask why, long stupid story).

Now, I have three choices on the screen in question and I'd like to remove the two I don't use (and presumably forego the choice screen altogether).

Does anyone know how I do this? Do I have to run the setup disc maybe?

Control panel->System->Advanced Tab

You will see options here for Start Up and Recovery. I don't think you can get rid of the screen altogether because your system thinks it has 3 operating systems. But, you can change the display time of the screen from the default 30 seconds to whatever (1 second :p ). I had this problem several years ago. It didn't go away until my next HD format.

I wish I'd known that a while back, it would've helped. Now, it doesn't, because the latest "install" has taken precedence over my real install so I have to scroll down one choice.

Check out boot.ini (probably in c:\) with a text editor. You can edit the choices there.

Thanks reepa I had to build a new boot.ini as I didn't have one. I edited out the lines referencing removed installations so hopefully that'll fix it.
